GHANA HOTELS ASSOCIATION Greater Accra Executives Visit Upp Market Hotels

As part of its stakeholder engagement and member support strategy, the leadership of the Greater Accra Chapter of the Ghana Hotels Association (GHA) has embarked on a familiarization visit to a number of upscale (Upp Market) hotels in the region.

The visit aimed to strengthen relationships with member establishments and gain firsthand insight into the challenges affecting their operations. Key issues discussed included staffing, taxation, regulatory compliance, marketing, and sustainability initiatives.

This outreach forms part of the Association’s ongoing efforts to advocate for improved operational conditions, foster collaboration, and enhance the overall competitiveness of the hospitality sector within the region.

GHANA HOTELS ASSOCIATION, GREATER ACCRA REGIONAL EXECUTIVES VISIT DR. EDWARD ACKAH-NYAMEKE JNR., NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF THE ASSOCIATION.

The recently sworn-in executives of the Ghana Hotels Association, Greater Accra Branch has begun a thank you tour to all Past Chairpersons of the Association in Greater Accra Region.

The first call was to the National President of the Association, Dr. Edward Ackah-Nyameke Jnr at the National office in Accra.

The regional leadership was led by the Chairperson, Madam Clare Banoeng-Yakubo. She expressed gratitude to the President for a successful swearing-in ceremony and for his guidance and direction during the Regional elections, which brought about free, fair, and peaceful elections.

The Chairperson, Madam Banoeng-Yakubo took the opportunity to brief him on their plans so far. Giving an overview of the challenges hotels are confronted with, Dr. Edward Nyameke Jnr. said there is the need for the Association to push for the consolidation of taxes and levies, the use of the 1% Tourism Development Fund, for administrative work by hotels, push for mandatory membership to build a stronger association, push for effective public private partnership as well as for middle level categorisation and utility billing system for hotels. These are some key challenges among others that hinder the growth of the industry, he added.

Madam Banoeng-Yakubo promised that she and her team would put in their best for the association to thrive. Dr. Ackah-Nyameke Jnr is a former Regional Chairman of the Greater Accra. The current executives will run a two-year term, 2025/2026.

While challenges may arise, we also have tremendous opportunities for growth.

Let us work together to overcome obstacles, share best practices, and uplift one another. We recognize and appreciate those members who consistently offer their support whenever needed. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and we encourage you to keep up the great work. To those who have remained on the sidelines, we urge you to get involved—there is so much more we can achieve together.

This association thrives on collective effort. Let us all make the necessary sacrifices to ensure its success, knowing that the benefits will be ours to enjoy.
