The Gye Nyame symbol is one of the most famous Adinkra symbols from the Akan people of Ghana.
It means, except for God, I fear none.
Adinkra symbols were traditionally used on cloth for funerals and important ceremonies. Each one carries proverbs and wisdom. Gye Nyame is probably the most well known because the message is powerful: no matter what happens, God is above it all.
So people wear it for protection, faith, strength, and to show they answer to God alone.
You’ll see it a lot in Ghanaian art, clothing, and even as tattoos worldwide now.
