The Ghana Armed Force is a unified armed forces in Ghana consisting of Ghana Armed Force (GAF) , Ghana Navy Force (GNF) and the Ghana Air Force (GAF) . The service is supervised by the Ghana ministry of defense. The commander in chief of the Ghana Armed Force is the president of Ghana who is also the supreme military commander of the president own Guard Regiment (POGR) and of the president Border Guard Unit (BGU) . The supervision of the Ghana Armed Force (GAF) is managed by the ministry of defense and the chief of defense staff . MAJ GEN ESSIEN BIDS FAREWELL TO NORTHERN COMMAND

Major General Matthew Essien has bid farewell to the Northern Command as he handed over Command to Brigadier General Frank Nartey Tei during a colourful sendoff ceremony held at Camp Nyohini, Tamale on Tuesday 26 March, 2024.
In his address, Maj Gen Essien stated that since he assumed office as the GOC, his focus has remained steadfast in achieving Command objectives despite the challenges.
He averred that through unity and teamwork, the command had chalked up remarkable successes with sustained deployment along the northern borders, successful conduct of exercises and efficient handling of chieftaincy disputes among others.

Commandant of the Tanzanian Armed Forces Command and Staff College (TAFCSC), Brigadier General Steven Justice Mnkamde has led a student delegation on educational tour to Ghana.
The tour was under the theme “Regional Blocs Strategies in Addressing Security Challenges in Africa”, and as part of the itinerary for the tour, the delegation paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Thomas-Oppong Peprah at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp on Monday 25 March, 2024.
