Dexamenes Seaside Hotel is heading to PURE Life Experiences 2026 in Marrakech.

If you’re attending PURE—whether you’re a travel advisor, travel agent, journalist, or industry friend—we’d love to connect. Feel free to reach out to Giannis Boziaris or Nikos Karaflos and find a moment to meet in Marrakech.

We’re also very proud that Dexamenes has been nominated for the PURE Awards 2026 in the Creativity category, with our project “Traditional, Illegal.” — Food Activism Through Living Systems.

The project explores how regulation can push ancestral food practices into illegality, and how hospitality can become a space for research, dialogue, preservation and action.

If you’re participating in PURE this year and feel that this work deserves your support, we’d be honored to have your vote:

dex.Cinema Sundays.

This Sunday, step inside our historic silo for a screening of The Color of Pomegranates (1969), Sergei Parajanov’s poetic masterpiece.

Rather than telling the life of the Armenian poet Sayat-Nova in a conventional way, the film unfolds as a sequence of striking visual tableaux—where colour, symbolism and ritual take the place of narrative. Widely regarded as one of cinema’s most original works, it invites us to slow down, observe, and experience film as visual poetry.

Join us for an evening where industrial heritage meets cinematic art.

"Slow Coast" by Yulia Koval
Dexamenes Seaside Hotel, Peloponnese
20 July - 17 October 2026
Shot on 35mm film
Curated by Nikos Karaflos and Yulia Koval
https://dexamenes.com/slow-coast/

This series emerged during an artist residency at Dexamenes, a former wine factory turned into a five-star hotel holding a Michelin Key on the western coast of the Peloponnese. Here industrial architecture meets cultivated land and the Ionian Sea.

Rather than approaching the landscape as something to be represented, the work is rooted in sustained observation of its material transformations.

Working with 35mm film became less an aesthetic decision than a way of slowing down the act of looking. The photographs linger on transitions rather than events, on erosion instead of spectacle, on gestures rather than narratives.

Water, vegetation, weathered concrete, rust and animal presence appear not as isolated subjects but as interconnected fragments of a shared ecology. Each image isolates an ordinary encounter, allowing it to exceed its descriptive function.

Together, the works propose landscape not as scenery, but as a living field of relationships, continuously shaped by weather, labour, and time.

Artist’s short bio
Born in Baku and based in Athens, Yulia Koval is an independent film photographer and visual artist working primarily with 35mm analogue film. Drawn to photography’s ability to physically hold time through chemistry, grain, and light, she approaches image-making with equal parts precision and intuition — informed by her background in engineering and an ongoing interest in slowness as a counterweight to the speed of contemporary visual culture.

Works by Yulia Koval are held in private collections across Greece, the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, and other countries. Her photography has been featured in publications including Forbes, Cultured, Kathimerini, Athens Voice, Athinorama, LiFo, Andro, Glow, Posh Travel, and Art Flash.

“Tendre”
A tasting game, a wine ritual, and art experience.

DEXAMENES X ODASSIEN bring back Kantharos Gatherings with the Tendre Edition.

Tendre is the third chapter of Kantharos Gatherings, a project born from the longstanding creative collaboration between Dexamenes and ODASSIEN. First launched in 2019, during the hotel’s inaugural year, Kantharos Gatherings is a series of artistic wine tastings inspired by the history and identity of Dexamenes, an old wine factory transformed into a dynamic platform for hospitality and culture.

The concept of Tendre revolves around memory. In a wine tasting, when we try to identify what we smell or taste, what we are actually doing is uncovering memories, because everything we recognize has, by default, been experienced before at least once.

“We look at the world once, in childhood. The rest is memory.”
Louise Glück

During Tendre, guests are invited to identify different aromas and recall the personal memories they evoke. Each guest is given a bespoke platter designed specifically for this project, which doubles as a wine aroma wheel. The platter is marked with embossed and debossed words describing aromas found in wine, alongside more abstract words like home or kiss that connect to memory and lived experience. Its form is conceived as a landscape, with curves, pockets, and protrusions that make exploring pairings playful and allegorical.

The title of this iteration of Kantharos Gatherings is drawn from the Carte de Tendre (Map of Tenderness), a social game and imaginary map of emotional geography created by Madeleine de Scudéry. The map charts different paths of romantic attachment and emotional refinement.

In 17th-century salons, women used this map as a conversational exercise to playfully trace different paths of romantic relationships.

Meaning “tender,” “gentle”, “affectionate,” or “loving” in French, the word carries a sense of intimacy, softness, and emotional openness, the very atmosphere the project seeks to create, standing in deliberate contrast to the hard, polished materiality of the aluminum platter itself.

Conceived for an intimate group, it is also the first chapter in the series designed to travel
beyond the borders of the hotel, adapting to different contexts, venues, and audiences while carrying the essence of Dexamenes beyond its site.

Dexamenes Seaside Hotel | “Traditonal, Illegal.”
From Awareness to Action.
Bringing Biodiversity back. The Tomato Collection with

Following our “Traditional, Illegal.” awareness initiatives and this year’s Research Trip, we decided to take the first active step.

Inspired by the conversations around biodiversity, regenerative agriculture, and the role hospitality can play beyond its own boundaries, Dexamenes partnered with local grower Dimitra Spiliopoulou to pre-purchase this season’s harvest and support the cultivation of more than 15 traditional tomato varieties.

At the same time, we have initiated a dialogue with Greek and European institutions to explore the identification, seed multiplication, and gradual reintroduction of officially registered traditional varieties into cultivation.

Through initiatives like these, we hope to contribute to the restoration of agricultural biodiversity, support small local producers, reduce food miles, promote regenerative farming principles, and demonstrate how hospitality can become an active participant in shaping more resilient local food systems.

We believe that meaningful change begins with small, tangible actions. This is only the beginning.

Some of life's most meaningful moments happen around a shared table.

Food brings people together, but it is the conversations, the laughter, and the feeling of connection that stay with us long after.
