🌎🇺🇾This is Andrés from Uruguay 👇

💭 Andrés chose to travel to Athens mainly due to his love for history. He visited almost all of the European countries, besides Greece, so Athens was an easy choice. Andrés loves everything history related - literature, movies, books, and has developed a deep connection to it.

To enjoy Acropolis, Andrés sat on a mountain across from it and spent a fair amount of time admiring the ancient Greek citadel. ''When you look at it, you feel you are there, in the past'' Andrés says.

When asked about what he loves about Athens, Andrés mentions how green the city is. Aside from Athens, Andrés would also love to visit Sparta, Thermopylae valley where the fight between Spartans and Persians took place and Mykonos. Andrés also has a travel Youtube channel called Bitácora De Un Viajero. Feel free to follow him along on his travel journeys!

🌍 🇱🇻 Meet Ruta, our newest addition to the team from the snowy northern land also known as Latvia. Ruta's a traveller and a digital freelancer specialized in video editing, who's chosen Greece as her current travel destination.

💭 Here's Ruta in her own words about why:

"Why Greece?

I arrived to Greece to live out my mamma mia musical fantasy - volunteering edition (minus the part where she gets pregnant from 3 men) and to intentionally drown in kalamata olives, feta cheese and delicious pastries.

I like that Athens, as a city, has a very evident character to it. It’s colourful, loving and unapologetically itself. The ever-funny and quirky street vendors and dozens of street cats definitely add to it."

🇦🇷🌎 This is Matias from Argentina who's going to be volunteering with us for the following month as a part of his 3-month travel journey.

Matias says the eastern part of Europe holds more fascination to him as the typical central/western European countries seem not as exciting. Also the fascination with historical Greek figures such as philosophers and the uniqueness in architecture adds to the fascination for Greece.

"The tourism infrastructure and logistics within the city are well designed, and from a visitors perspective there's a lot to see", Matias says.

One of the more interesting things he points out he likes about Athens is the roughness of the streets, as compared to the perfection found in the central parts in Europe.

🌏🇦🇺 This Australian guest of ours has crowned Greece her favourite country she's visited so far.

💭 When asked to point out the main characteristic that sets Greece apart from Australia and other countries, "it's the warmth of the Greek people" she says.

✅ Other likes: How many cats there are in Athens; How much effort has been put into decorating Athens' bars and restaurants, and the quality of music here;

❌ Dislikes: How outdated the gender roles and relations are, "but that's not a problem only exclusive to Greece", she adds

🌍🇳🇱 This group of Dutch travellers is paying a visit to us from Amsterdam. Here's their impressions of Athens:

✅ Likes: The food, the bouzouki (a traditional Greek string instrument) performances, the parks and the richness of architecture within the city and all its' accoutrements. The Greek relaxed way of life.

❌ Dislikes: Also the Greek relaxed way of life, when the situation asks for more attention to detail 🤔

💭 A tip from their side: "Don't just go to the tourist hotspots. Take your time to explore more remote and less popular parts of the city"
