Located 2 minutes away from Plaka Heart, Ermou street is located below Syntagma square. From Sephora and Mac for cosmetics to Foot Locker for athletic gear, Zara for clothing, and Flying Tiger for quirky bits and bobs, Ermou St. combines a large variety of stores with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

2️⃣AIOLOU & AGIOU MARKOU STREET
If you are on a budget but still want to treat yourself, head towards Aiolou and Agiou Markou streets. Located 10 minutes away from Plaka Heart, you will find on both streets several vendors with a wide variety of budget-friendly products.

🏞GREEN ESCAPES: 4 SCENIC HIKES NEAR ATHENS🇬🇷

👉Want to take a breath away from the city beat and surround yourself with nature? You’d be surprised how many fantastic hiking options there are just outside of Athens. Rejuvenating alpine paths and lush forest trails with byzantine delights hiding in plain sight. Intrepid treks near famed ancient ruins. All within an hour of the Acropolis.

👉The team of Plaka Heart has listed for you 5 scenic hike routes to enjoy during your stay in the center of Athens.

1️⃣MOUNT YMITTOS (KAISARIANI MONASTERY)
Located 20 minutes away by bus, the Kaisariani Monastery can be found on the western slope of Mt. Hymettus and is one of the best places for an easy afternoon escape from the city. There are plenty of marked trails that connect Kaisariani monastery with picturesque chapels hidden in the forest, panoramic viewpoints ready to be explored.

2️⃣MOUNT PARNITHA
Frequently visited by the nature-loving Athenians, Parnitha offers up a vast network of paths, rich flora and majestic views. You can wander for hours amid the beautiful landscape and if you’re lucky, even encounter a few deer. There are also 2 mountain shelters named Mpafi and Flabouri serving delicious homemade dishes, traditional spirits or wine.

3️⃣TATOI ROYAL ESTATE
To the northeast of Athens, in the foothills of Mt Parnitha, is Tatoi Palace, where Greece's royal family stayed during summer to flee the city heat. The palace itself has been shuttered for years, and the buildings are in a neglected state but you can walk around the grounds and along the forested paths of the wider area.

4️⃣PAN’S CAVE
Starting from the Fyli suburb at Western Parnitha, this trail leads to the Cave of Pan, an ancient place of worship of the god of wild. The area is popular among rock climbers but except for them, you won’t find many other visitors along the way.

1️⃣GO TO A ROOFTOP CAFÉ IN MONASTIRAKI
Monastiraki is a part of what is known as Old Athens. The neighborhoods surrounding the Acropolis are just as ancient and full of charm. In Monastiraki, we highly recommend several rooftop café bars with a splendid view to the Acropolis like “City Zen”, “Athens 360” or “A for Athens”.

2️⃣WITNESS THE CHANGING OF THE GUARDS IN SYNTAGMA
Every Sunday morning at 11am, people gather in Syntagma Square to watch the official changing of the guards, the military unit whose members stand proudly in perfect stillness in front of the Hellenic Parliament. There are of course changings every hour in the weekdays.

3️⃣SHOP IN THE CENTER OF ATHENS
Eager to shop in the commercial centers of Athens? You’re in luck. Our apartments are located 2 minutes away from the Ermou street. You can find fashion shops and shopping centers promoting the most international brands.

4️⃣VISIT THE MUSEUM OF ILLUSIONS
This is a definite recommendation for those with children. Need to take a break from the ancient history? Get ready to solve puzzles and to learn how to have fun with the illusions in display. Taking photos of illusions is essential, prepare to take a lot.

5️⃣HAVE DINNER IN THE TRADITIONAL AREA OF ANAFIOTIKA
Aside from the charming little houses and the scenic routes, Anafiotika is also home to beautiful tavernas and cafes. Be sure to visit the beautiful street of Mnisikleous, one of our favorite spots of the center of Athens.
