Two different chapters of Athens, in the same frame. In the foreground, New Hotel brings a distinctly contemporary rhythm to Filellinon Street; behind it, the domed silhouette of the Russian Church recalls a much older Athens. Originally built in the Byzantine period and extensively restored in the 19th century, the church retains its distinctive brickwork and Byzantine architectural language.

It is this layering of eras that makes Athens such a fascinating city to explore.
