Το υλικό απόρριμμα συλλέχθηκε εξολοκλήρου από το ξενοδοχείο Αχίλλειον στην Ομόνοια της Αθήνας στο διάστημα μεταξύ 1 Ιουνίου έως 15 Σεπτεμβρίου 2017. Περίοδος High Season για την περιοχή της Αθήνας στον τουριστικό κλάδο καθώς τα τελευταία χρόνια θεωρείται ένας από τους ποίο πολυσύχναστους τουριστικούς προορισμούς παγκοσμίως και προσελκύει τεράστιο αριθμό επισκεπτών. Η ξενοδοχειακή φιλοξενία απαιτεί σε καθημερινή βάση να πραγματοποιούνται πολλαπλές πλύσεις και στεγνώματα της ιματιοθήκης με αποτέλεσμα να προκύπτει κάθε φορά μια μικρή ποσότητα χνουδιού προσκολλημένη στο φίλτρο του μηχανικού στεγνωτηρίου. Τα ινώδη υπολείμματα της πλύσης και στεγνώματος των κλινοσκεπασμάτων και πετσετών αποτελούνται κυρίως από βαμβακερές και συνθετικές μικρο ίνες και αναπόφευκτα συγκρατούν DNA από χιλιάδες χρήστες- τουρίστες που φιλοξενήθηκαν στην επιχείρηση κατά την συγκεκριμένη χρονική περίοδο. Το χνούδι που αποτελεί το έσχατο υπόλειμμα ανήλιου στεγνώματος διατηρεί στο περιεχόμενο του σωματίδια και υπολείμματα σαρκικής μάζας, τρίχες, λίπος και συμπυκνώνει ένα γενετικό αρχείο αόρατο με γυμνό οφθαλμό.
Το υλικό μέσω της τεχνικής πλέξης felting- τσόχας μεταμορφώνεται σε μάλλινη επιφάνεια/ υφαντό. Η νέα υλική υπόσταση μπορεί τώρα να χρησιμοποιηθεί ως σκίαστρο εσωτερικού χώρου, μια τέντα εσωτερικής μόνο χρήσης καθώς είναι αδύναμη να αντιμετωπίσει τις εξωτερικές κλιματολογικές συνθήκες. Τα σεντόνια των ξενοδοχείων είναι καταδικασμένα να μην δουν ποτέ τον ήλιο.

The material in the work of Theodoros Zafeiropoulos was collected in its entirely from Achillion Hotel in the area of Omonia between the 1st June to the 15th of September 2017. This period is considered to be ‘’High season’’ for the tourist sector
In Athens which has become in recent years one of the most bustling tourist destinations, attracting large numbers of visitors.
Hotel hospitality entails multiple daily launderings of sheets, which also results in the production of a small quantity of lint that is found. Attached onto the filter of the tumble dryer. The fibrous residue of washing and drying sheets and towels consists mostly of cotton and synthetic micro-fibres and inevitably collects the DNA of the thousands of visitors that stayed in the hotel during the summer period. The lint that is the ultimate waste product of this drying process holds on to particles shed off by the human body , hair as well as fat as the condenses this genetic archive that is invisible to the bare eye.
Using the felting method of knitting this material is transformed into a woolen surface / embroidery which in turn can now be used as an interior sunshade, a canopy
for indoor use only, as it cannot handle external weather conditions. Hotel sheets are doomed to stay out of the sun.

Το The Symptom Projects είναι μια πλατφόρμα που στοχεύει στη διερεύνηση του «συμπτώματος» στην τέχνη. Το «σύμπτωμα», αυτή η σκοτεινή εμπειρία της λακανικής ψυχανάλυσης, το γλωσσικό συμβάν, που αναδύει το αδιάθετο ίχνος του πραγματικού, το αφανέρωτο ίχνος του πράγματος.

Συνεργαζόμενο με καλλιτέχνες, επιμελητές, θεωρητικούς και λογοτέχνες το The Symptom Projects γίνεται έτσι ένας τόπος σκέψης αλλά μαζί και ένα πειραματικό φόρουμ που με εκθεσιακές δραστηριότητες, στρογγυλές τράπεζες και κειμενικές παραγωγές επιχειρεί να διερευνήσει αυτό το αχαρτογράφητο απόθεμα που είναι όμως και η καταγωγική αναφορά του οποιουδήποτε έργου.

The Symptom Projects is a platform that seeks to explore “symptom” in art; the “symptom”, this dark experience of lacanian psychoanalysis, the linguistic event that disposes the non disposable trace of the real, the unrevealed trace of the thing.

In cooperation with artists, curators, theoreticians and litterateurs, The Symptom Projects becomes a place of thinking no less that an experimental forum, which attempts to explore this uncharted reserve that is also the original reference of any work, through exhibitions, round tables and textual productions.
