In 1990 the internationally respected physician Dr Akyllas Anagnostides was breathtaken at the sight of AEGEA-ZORGOS bay, a place of unspoiled natural beauty thought to be the site of mythical kingdom of the Amazon queen AEGEA, and was inspired to build the AEGEA RESORT. He combined the best environmental conditions with strong traditional heritage to create a place for relaxation, spiritual excit
ement and natural, cultural and social activities, and to offer ecological Cycladic Mediterranean diet supported by 5-star facilities and services. Ten yearsof careful research by some of the best Greek architects went into thedesignand development of AEGEA. Some 24 luxurious and independent villas ranging in size between 40 – 400 metres2were built with the layout and style of a traditional ship owner’s village. There are central squares, viewpoints, pathways, a swimming pool, amphitheatre, bar and beach bar, traditional restaurant and ample spaces for recreational activities. More than 14 Km of traditional island stone walling were built to optimize planting and today AEGEA produces enough biological produce to feed her inhabitants.
