Our Story

It all started back in 1976, when Sophocles and Martha Tsepetis (an acclaimed gynaecologist and his midwife spouse, who worked at his side for 40 years) decided to buy a beachfront plot on sandy Glaros beach and built a wooden shack to cater to weekend barbecues for relatives and friends.

Years went by and tourism started slowly but steadily to take off (for better or worse). The beach hut became kind of run-down and the Tsepetis family had to make a choice: either to build a proper summer house or a small hotel. Given the property's unique location, they decided to go for a hotel. Construction began in 1987 but ammos hotel was completed in 1996 - it took the family 10 years, with many long interludes when the money ran out. From the start, the youngest son, Nikos Tsepetis, was chosen to run the place.

With 33 colourful rooms and suites overlooking the Cretan sea, our intimate hotel has one of the highest numbers of repeat guests in Greece. Smart design, delicious food, and a dazzling seaside location are some of the qualities that make ammos hotel such a hit. Regular fans keep coming back for the warm welcome, exceptional value, and striking interiors designed by architect Elisa Manola and hotelier Nikos Tsepetis.
