Αγαπάμε τις ελιές. Και αγαπάμε να το μοιραζόμαστε αυτό με ανθρώπους με το ίδιο πάθος για την διατροφή και την φύση!

Κάθε φθινόπωρο ένα retreat σε γυρνά στις ρίζες και την ιστορία της ελληνικής υπαίθρου: στο μάζεμα της ιερής ελιάς. Για πέντε μέρες κοιμάσαι και ξυπνάς σε έναν αρχαίο ελαιώνα, μαζεύεις ελιές από δέντρα 2.000 ετών και παρακολουθείς όλη τη διαδικασία στο ελαιοτριβείο. Μαθαίνεις να χρησιμοποιείς το ελαιόλαδο για να θρέψεις το σώμα σου μέσα και έξω.

Το λάδι πηγαίνει κατευθείαν από την πρέσα στο μπουκάλι — ενώ εσύ στέκεσαι εκεί.

Ένα μάθημα μαγειρικής για παιδιά…από ένα παιδί!

Ο Ιάσονας είναι δέκα χρονών και μεγάλωσε σε αυτό το αγρόκτημα. Ξέρει ποια βότανα και λαχανικά να μαζέψει, πώς να φτιάχνει γκόγκες, και ακριβώς πόση σοκολάτα μπαίνει σε ένα μπισκότο (πολλή).

Την περασμένη εβδομάδα έκανε το πρώτο του μάθημα σε παιδιά που μας επισκέφτηκαν: μάζεψαν λαχανικά από τον κήπο, έφτιαξαν χειροποίητη ζύμη για γκόγκες, άνοιξαν φύλλο για πιταρούδια — την τοπική σπανακόπιτα — και ναι, έγινε και μια μικρή μάχη με αλεύρι, για να θυμηθούμε οι μεγάλοι τι σημαίνει να έχεις παιδιά στην κουζίνα.

Στην eumelia εμπιστευόμαστε μόνο το αλεύρι από το — βιολογικό, από αυτόχθονες ελληνικές ποικιλίες σιταριού. Δεν θα προσφέραμε κάτι λιγότερο στους επισκέπτες μας — και σίγουρα όχι στους μικρούς μας, είτε το τρώνε είτε για να… αλευρώνονται!

Αυτό είναι ένα πραγματικό μάθημα μαγειρικής. Απλώς με καλύτερο δάσκαλο. Έναν που καταφέρνει καλύτερα να πείσει τα άλλα παιδιά να φάνε σπανάκι!

Αυτό το καλοκαίρι δώστε ένα ξεχωριστό μάθημα στα παιδιά σας και που ξέρετε… ίσως να απαλλαγείτε από το καθημερινό μαγείρεμα (σίγουρα όχι το μάζεμα!). 🌿

Introducing our kids’ cooking class — led by a kid.

Jason is ten years old and grew up on this farm. He knows which herbs to pick, how to make gogges by hand, and exactly how much chocolate goes into a cookie (a lot).

Last week he led his first cooking class: garden harvest, hand-made pasta, hand-rolled phyllo for pitaroudia — our local spinach pie — and yes, a flour fight, just to remind us adults what it’s like to have kids in the kitchen.

At eumelia we’ve trusted for organic flour milled from indigenous Greek varieties. We wouldn’t offer our guests anything less — and certainly not our little ones, whether they’re eating it or wearing it.

This is a real cooking class. Just with a better teacher. One who actually convinces other kids to eat spinach.

Η 1η Μαΐου δεν είναι απλά μια αργία — είναι η γιορτή της φύσης, και φέτος τη μετατρέπουμε σε κάτι αξέχαστο για τα παιδιά σου και για σένα.

Ξέχνα τις οθόνες. Ξέχνα τις ρουτίνες.
Για τρεις μέρες, τα παιδιά λερώνουν τα χέρια τους με την καλύτερη έννοια — μαγειρεύουν, φυτεύουν, εξερευνούν, συνδέονται, ξεκαρδίζονται στα γέλια και παίζουν ελεύθερα κάτω από τον ανοιχτό ουρανό.

Κι εσύ; Γίνεσαι ο γονιός που πάντα ήθελες να είσαι στις διακοπές — ξεκούραστος, εμπνευσμένος και πάντα παρών.

Μαζί μας δύο εξαιρετικοί άνθρωποι:

🌱 .599 — ο άνθρωπος που κάνει πιο rock τη ζωή της φάρμας και προμηθεύει τα κορυφαία εστιατόρια της Αθήνας με microgreens. Θα μαγειρέψει μαζί με τα παιδιά, θα φυτέψουν microgreens που κάθε οικογένεια παίρνει σπίτι της και θα μοιραστεί γνώσεις που κανένα σχολείο δεν μπορεί να διδάξει.

The table is set before the sun goes down.

At eumelia, summer dinners begin with the light — golden hour over the Laconian mountain, the long table slowly filling with people who arrived as strangers.

The vegetables come from 200 meters away. Literally. Picked that day from our garden, they reach the kitchen still fresh from the soil. From there, they are slowly cooked in clay cookware — the kind of cooking that doesn’t rush, that lets things become what they’re meant to be.

The wines are all Greek. Small producers, native varieties, nothing forced. Each bottle tells a story from a different corner of the country — a story that pairs well with the ones being shared around the table.

This is the summer dinner experience at eumelia.
A gathering, not a service. A meal that takes its time, because the evening is long and the company is good.

Το τραπέζι στρώνεται λίγο πριν το ηλιοβασίλεμα.

Στην eumelia, τα καλοκαιρινά δείπνα αρχίζουν με το φως — την χρυσή ώρα που ο ήλιος βασιλεύει πίσω από τον Ταΰγετο. Οι καρέκλες γεμίζουν σιγά σιγά, και το τραπέζι ζωντανεύει με ανθρώπους που έφτασαν ως άγνωστοι.

Τα λαχανικά έρχονται από 200 μέτρα μακριά. Κυριολεκτικά. Μαζεμένα την ίδια μέρα από τον κήπο μας, φτάνουν στην κουζίνα και μυρίζουν ακόμα χώμα. Μαγειρεύονται αργά σε πήλινα σκεύη — το είδος της μαγειρικής που θέλει χρόνο και επιτρέπει στα λαχανικά να μελώσουν.

Τα κρασιά είναι όλα ελληνικά. Μικροί παραγωγοί, αυτόχθονες ποικιλίες, φυσική οινοποίηση. Κάθε ετικέτα φέρνει μαζί της μια ιστορία από μια άλλη γωνιά της χώρας — μια ιστορία που ταιριάζει καλά με αυτές που μοιράζονται γύρω από το τραπέζι.

Αυτή είναι η εμπειρία του καλοκαιρινού δείπνου στην eumelia. Μια συνάθροιση, όχι μια υπηρεσία. Ένα γεύμα που παίρνει τον χρόνο του, γιατί το βράδυ είναι μακρύ και η παρέα είναι καλή.

🌻 Ώχρα, ξύλο, πέτρα. Το Ηλιοτρόπιο έχει τα χρώματα της ελληνικής υπαίθρου.

Φυσικά κονιάματα, ακατέργαστες ξύλινες δοκοί, φυσικά στρώματα και υφάσματα, μεταλλικές λεπτομέρειες. Μια παλέτα δανεισμένη από το ελληνικό τοπίο — επιστρέφει ως eco-σπιτάκι για να ζήσεις τη βιώσιμη διαβίωση στη φύση.

There are places where Easter is still lived slowly.

Where the air smells of beeswax and wild herbs, where children run free, and the table is set under ancient olive trees.

eumelia farm in Laconia, Peloponnese, is one of those places.

Here is what a week with us looks like:

🥚 Good Friday morning — Natural egg dyeing, Easter cookies and an egg hunt in the organic garden.

🕯️ Good Friday evening — The Epitaphios procession in Gythio, three churches converging along the seafront, candlelight on the water.

🐝 Holy Saturday morning — Beeswax candle-making workshop. That night, you light the candle you made with your own hands.

✨ Resurrection service in Apidia — A Byzantine church, 1,600 years of history, and no one around but the village.

🍋 Easter Sunday — Table under the olive grove, food from the farm, afternoon in Monemvasia.

🏛️ Easter Monday — Mystras in spring, then the Museum of Olive Oil in Sparta. Leave with more than you came with.

Η πιο υπερδιεγερμένη γενιά στην ιστορία δεν χρειάζεται περισσότερο περιεχόμενο. Χρειάζεται λάσπη, ζώα και ησυχία.

Η γενιά Alpha δεν έχει γνωρίσει ποτέ έναν κόσμο χωρίς οθόνες. Η προσοχή τους μοιράζεται σε εκατό κατευθύνσεις πριν καλά καλά ξυπνήσουν. Έρευνες δείχνουν ότι η φύση είναι από τα λίγα πράγματα που επιτρέπουν στον εγκέφαλο ενός παιδιού να ξεκουραστεί πραγματικά — όχι γιατί βαριέται, αλλά γιατί του ζητά παρουσία χωρίς πίεση.
