Hello, Eleni Village Family! How are you all?

We have a construction update for you:
𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 & 𝗔 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆!

We wanted to share some exciting updates about our expansion project! The construction of our 12 new luxury accommodations is progressing beautifully, and we can already see our vision coming to life.

Mother Nature decided to give us a little pause recently with some unexpected rain (yes, rain in Crete - can you imagine?! ). But the good news is: the project is moving forward step by step!

Here's where it gets interesting...

As we started excavating the foundations for our first new rooms, we quickly realised something: the depth and square meters are MORE than enough to turn these underground areas into useful spaces where guests could actually 'do' something!

Right now, we're still deciding what would be most valuable for you. What do you think we should create down here?

A quiz will follow in the coming days, so stay tuned!

Meanwhile, construction continues with the 'blinding layer' . This is a thin layer of lean concrete to create a clean, level base, followed by the rebar work (steel reinforcement) before we move on to the main structure.

We're thrilled to see the foundations taking shape for what will become your new home-away-from-home next season. Some will feature private pools, and all will showcase that perfect blend of modern comfort and traditional Cretan charm we're known for.

For those who've already booked for 2026... thank you for your trust! You'll be among the first to experience our beautiful new accommodations.

Building dreams takes time, patience, but we promise it will be worth the wait!

What would YOU love to see in these underground spaces? Share your ideas in the comments!

Excited for what's ahead,
Dimitri and Eleni 🌿🇬🇷

Being a bit delayed with our construction.... 20 days delayed....
A little time later than planned, we discovered something that changed everything:

Ammoudara has recently been placed under archaeological protection.

This means representatives from the archaeological service must be present during excavation. So we had to wait for this arrangement.

The good news? The archaeological team and builders started their work at Eleni Village on Monday, and everything is going smoothly!

This is the reality of building in Crete! Archaeological considerations are taken very seriously here, almost at the highest level of importance. When my parents renovated years ago, this area wasn't under the same protection, but times have changed, and we respect that completely.

It's a reminder that on this ancient island, history isn't just something in museums; it's literally beneath our feet, and protecting it matters.

So while the delay tested our patience, we're grateful we're doing this properly. Your understanding means the world to us!

With appreciation and anticipation,
Eleni and Dimitri 🌿🇬🇷

Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Eleni Village! This morning, construction officially began on our expansion project, and our hearts are filled with mixed emotions.

As we watched the first preparations take place, we couldn't help but feel both thrilled and a little nostalgic. Every corner of this place holds precious memories, from my mother's time to now, and adding something new feels like carefully writing the next page in our family's story.

This expansion has been a dream we've nurtured for some time, and seeing it finally come to life is incredibly moving. We're creating 12 new accommodations that will allow us to welcome even more guests into our Eleni Village family, while staying true to the warmth and authenticity that have always defined us.

We'll be sharing glimpses of this journey with you over the coming months. Thank you for being part of our story and for your continued support as we grow.

Here's to new beginnings and the beautiful memories we'll create together!

With love and excitement,
Eleni and Dimitri 🌿🇬🇷

The summer season at Eleni Village has drawn to a close. Last Saturday, we bid farewell to our final guests, and Sunday was a well-deserved day of rest for our team.

But Monday saw everyone back at work, diligently preparing the village for winter and our exciting new project.

This week on the 28th of October, we celebrated OXI Day. όχι (ochi) means NO in Greek.

όχι- day is one of Greece's most important national holidays. On October 28th, the entire country comes alive with patriotism and remembrance.

Children and youth take centre stage, participating in vibrant parades that honour Greece's brave stand against Italian forces in 1940.

Dimitri and I joined in this powerful tradition. Watching the young students march proudly in their school uniforms, carrying flags and embodying the spirit of resistance and freedom, was truly inspiring. It's a day that reminds us of the courage and resilience that define the Greek spirit.

With the summer behind us, we are now focused on preparing Eleni Village for winter and our upcoming project. We're thrilled to share that we've received the official approval to move forward with our plans. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks!

From everyone at Eleni Village, we thank you for a wonderful season and look forward to what the future holds.

Warm regards,
Eleni and the Team 🌿🇬🇷

Hello, my dear Eleni Village family!

What a season it has been! As we prepare to close our park for the winter, my heart is filled with joy and anticipation. Yes, the park will be quiet, but there's magic happening behind the scenes. We're getting ready to welcome 12 new houses in 2026, which means I'll be busy transplanting some of our beloved plants and trees to make room for this exciting expansion.

Every plant, every flower, every tree in this garden tells a story. I've watched them grow, just as I've watched our Eleni Village family grow over the years. From the moment the first spring blossoms appear to the lush greenery of summer, each season brings its own special beauty.

This year has been particularly special. Working alongside wonderful colleagues, seeing the smiles of our guests, and being part of this incredible team – it's more than just a job. It's a passion, a way of life.

To all our guests who have walked these paths, sat under our trees, and shared moments of joy – thank you. Your presence breathes life into this place. And to my dear team, especially Eleni and Dimitri, who continue the beautiful legacy started by Eleni's mother – you inspire me every day.

As we prepare for the quiet months ahead, know that the garden is dreaming, resting, and preparing for another magical season in 2026. I'll be here, nurturing our little paradise, making sure everything is perfect for your return.

See you next year! With love from the garden,
Georgos, your gardener.

P.S. Those 12 new houses? They're going to be amazing! 🌿🌞

In Crete, there's a sacred ritual that welcomes you into someone's home and heart: the offering of raki with a heartfelt toast to your health and your family's wellbeing.
"Stin ygeia sou kai tis oikogeneias sou!" …. "To your health and your family's health!"

When a Cretan invites you, within moments a small glass of raki will appear before you, never alone, but always accompanied by something special. The accompanying fruit, nuts, or homemade sweets are expressions of love and care.

This isn't just hospitality; it's an ancient tradition that transforms guests into friends. The raki itself, a clear, potent spirit distilled from grape pomace, represents the Cretan harvest and the island's generous spirit.

The moment is always the same, yet always unique. Your host pours the raki with care, sets out the accompanying treats, and raises their glass to meet yours. Eye contact is essential. Then comes the toast: “Yamas!" (Γειά μας!) - "To our health!"

These aren't just words; they're blessings. When a Cretan toasts to your health and your family's wellbeing, they mean it from the depths of their heart. In that moment, you're no longer a stranger….. you are part of their extended family.

This tradition reveals something profound about Cretan culture: hospitality isn't about impressing guests with luxury, it's about sharing what you have with genuine warmth.

When you accept that glass of raki and raise it in return, you're participating in a tradition that stretches back centuries. You're accepting not just a drink, but friendship, blessing, and connection.

So next time you're offered raki in a Cretan home, remember: you're experiencing something sacred. Raise your glass, look your host in the eye, and toast back with feeling.

Today we raise our glass, lift it and say: "Stin ygeia sas!" (Στην υγειά σας!) - "To your health!" We might not be able to look you in the eye, but we wish you the best for the coming season And hope to see you in 2026!

When autumn arrives in Crete, one fruit reigns supreme: the pomegranate. Known as "ρόδι" (rodi) in Greek, this ancient fruit is more than just a delicious treat - it's a symbol of Cretan life and tradition.

In Greek mythology, pomegranate seeds tell stories of goddesses and seasons. Here in Crete, they symbolize life, fertility, and prosperity. Our local pomegranate trees, thriving in volcanic soil and Mediterranean sunshine, produce fruits bursting with ruby-red seeds that shine like precious jewels.

Cretan families have long celebrated the pomegranate harvest. During weddings, cracking open a pomegranate brings good luck, with scattered seeds symbolizing abundance. These fruits are more than just food - they're a piece of our cultural heritage.

Packed with antioxidants and nutrients, pomegranates are a true superfood. In our kitchen at Eleni Village, we love incorporating them into dishes. Sprinkle seeds over a fresh Greek salad, create a tangy sauce for grilled meats, or simply enjoy the burst of flavour straight from the fruit.

When you visit Crete, look for these magical fruits. Crack one open, and let the seeds tell you a story of sun, tradition, and the incredible bounty of our beautiful island.

Καλή όρεξη! (Enjoy your meal!)

Meet the Pied Crow: A Colorful Surprise in Crete's Animal Kingdom!

Today, we dive into the world of a remarkable winged resident of our island: the pied crow. This distinctive bird is a true colour palette in the Cretan landscape!

These fascinating birds measure 44 to 51 centimetres in length, making them a substantial presence in the bird world. Their appearance is a stunning artwork of black and gray tones, with a black cap, wings, and tail, complemented by an elegant ash-gray body. While resembling its all-black cousin, the pied crow stands out with its unique two-tone plumage.

Like the owls we've previously described - symbols of wisdom in our island tradition - crows are intelligent and adaptable inhabitants of Crete. They are true survivors who know how to carve out their place in our diverse landscapes. Though rare, the pied crow proves that Crete is a sanctuary for unique animal species.

From the mysterious owls to this two-toned feathered marvel, each bird tells a story of our rich island nature. The pied crow carries with it the spirit of biodiversity, a living reminder of the complex ecosystems that make Crete so special.

Keep your eyes open during your walks! You might just encounter this fascinating winged resident, a true testament to the wild beauty of our island.

Hello everyone, Eleni here!

It's almost the end of the season, and I have to say: we absolutely loved having you all with us this year! Every guest, every smile, every shared moment has made this season truly special.

But while one chapter closes, another exciting one is about to begin! We're slowly starting on our next big project, and I'm thrilled to share a little sneak peek with you.

Coming in 2026: 12 brand new houses with swimming pools!

As our Eleni Village family grows, we realized we need to grow too. A larger park needs a bigger reception area to welcome you properly. We're creating storage space for your suitcases and expanding our dining area so everyone can enjoy their meals comfortably.

This project is close to my heart. Just like my father built this beautiful oasis years ago, and my mother started and continued taking care of it, Dimitri and I are now taking the next step to make Eleni Village even better for all of you.

We're learning, experimenting, and pouring our love into every detail.

I can't wait to see your faces when you arrive next season and discover all the changes! We hope you'll be as excited as we are about what's coming.

Thank you for being part of our Eleni Village family. Your support and love make all of this possible.

For our guest who stay with us this week… enjoy your stay!

And to all of you… see you next season!

Με αγάπη (With love),
Eleni
