An evening in Pothia, seen through the eyes of our guests. 🍷🌅

A glass of wine, the warm light of the setting sun, and the harbour slowly settling into the evening.

One of the things we love about staying in Pothia is that you don't have to go looking for the atmosphere — it finds you.

These beautiful moments were captured by a couple staying with us recently, enjoying an evening by the Kalymnos harbour.

The summer days may be winding down, but in Pothia, the harbour has its own rhythm long after sunset.

Tonight, a beautiful August moon rose over the water, while the lights of the harbour shimmered across the Aegean.

**There is always something happening in Pothia! 🎶**

Last night, just around the corner from Archontiko, the main square came alive with the music of **Paschalis**, one of Greece’s most beloved pop music legends.

The square was filled with people, music and that wonderful summer-night atmosphere that makes Pothia so special. ✨

And this is one of the things we love about staying right in the heart of town — you never quite know what you’ll find happening just a few steps from your door.

A beautiful little surprise from guests who stayed with us from North Wales.

“Diolch” means thank you in Welsh — and inside this colourful card they wrote:

“A very big thank you for your hospitality and kindness. Although our stay was short it helped make our stay in Kalymnos memorable.”

A handwritten thank-you somehow feels different.

We may receive reviews online, but a card travelling all the way from Wales to Kalymnos is something we'll keep.

One of the nicest things about welcoming guests to Archontiko is that sometimes, after they leave, they leave a little something behind.

This beautiful card arrived from a couple from North Wales, with the simple word “Diolch” on the front — Welsh for *thank you* — and the most colourful collection of stamps.

Inside, they wrote:

“A very big thank you for your hospitality and kindness. Although our stay was short, it helped make our stay in Kalymnos memorable.”

Words like these mean a great deal to us.

We receive formal reviews through Booking.com and other platforms, but there is something particularly special about a handwritten note that arrives unexpectedly in the post.

It reminds us that hospitality isn't only about a comfortable room or a beautiful view.

It is about how people feel when they are here.

So tonight, a little lesson in gratitude from Wales:

A morning on the balcony, the island light, the old neoclassical façade around you — and a little time to simply enjoy where you are.

We love receiving photographs like this from our guests. They remind us that Archontiko is not just a place to stay; it is a place to experience, to relax in, and to make your own memories.
