1. The Island Where Traditions Live On
In the mountain village of Olympos, women still wear traditional dress daily, and ancient customs are practiced as part of daily life—not just for tourists.

2. It’s the Wind Capital of the Aegean
Karpathos is a world-renowned destination for windsurfing and kitesurfing thanks to its strong, consistent Meltemi winds—especially in Afiartis.

3. Home to Endemic Species
Karpathos and nearby Saria Island are home to rare and endangered species, including the Mediterranean monk seal and unique wildflowers that grow nowhere else.

4. A Dialect Frozen in Time
The Karpathian dialect preserves words and grammar from ancient Doric Greek—linguists often study it to trace the evolution of the Greek language.
