Μερικές από τις στιγμές του καλοκαιριού μας.

Γάμοι, γέλια, νέες γνωριμίες και γνώριμα πρόσωπα που επέστρεψαν ξανά. Άνθρωποι που ήρθαν για πρώτη φορά και άλλοι που νιώθουμε πια σαν οικογένεια.

Αυθόρμητες στιγμές, ατελείωτα χαμόγελα και όμορφες αναμνήσεις που θα κρατήσουμε μαζί μας.

Αυτό ήταν το καλοκαίρι μας. Και κάπως έτσι, οι επισκέπτες γίνονται μέρος της ιστορίας του Windmill Resort.

Previously at The Windmill Resort...

40 vegetarian guests were about to arrive at a wedding.

The first thing they would see?

A whole lamb on the spit, head included.

And what started as one small request had somehow become "The Lamb Situation".

Welcome to Part 2.

Alex and the father of the bride are still taking crisis management very seriously, preferably over a wh**ky and a good laugh, when it becomes clear that someone is going to have to make a decision.

Then the bride arrives.

Opinions are divided. Some are coping better than others.

But then Alex makes a very important point:

We’re in . It’s a traditional Greek .

And just like that, the bride delivers her verdict:

“The head stays.”

Case closed.

According to Alex, the problem is officially solved, the vegetarians may have to become carnivores for the evening… and, most importantly:

It’s the bride’s day. Whatever the bride says, goes.

And so concludes The Lamb Situation.

Just another perfectly normal wedding day at The Windmill Resort.

40 vegetarian καλεσμένοι ετοιμάζονταν να φτάσουν στον γάμο.

Και το πρώτο πράγμα που θα αντίκριζαν μπαίνοντας;

Ένα ολόκληρο αρνί στη σούβλα με το κεφάλι.

Κάπως έτσι, ένα φαινομενικά μικρό ζήτημα εξελίχθηκε σε… "The Lamb Situation".

Καλώς ήρθατε στο Part 2.

Ο Alex και ο πατέρας της νύφης συνεχίζουν να αντιμετωπίζουν την κρίση με τον δικό τους τρόπο, με ένα ουίσκι και πολύ γέλιο, μέχρι που γίνεται ξεκάθαρο ότι κάποιος πρέπει επιτέλους να πάρει μια απόφαση.

Και τότε εμφανίζεται η νύφη.

Οι αντιδράσεις ποικίλλουν. Μέχρι που ακούγεται το καθοριστικό επιχείρημα:

Είμαστε στα #Κύθηρα. Είναι ένας παραδοσιακός ελληνικός #γάμος.

Και η νύφη βγάζει την τελική απόφαση:

«Το κεφάλι μένει.»

Case closed.

Η μέρα ανήκει στη νύφη. Ό,τι πει η νύφη, γίνεται.

Μία ακόμη απολύτως φυσιολογική ημέρα γάμου στο The Windmill Resort.

40 vegetarian guests. One whole lamb. And one rather unexpected problem.

Welcome to The Windmill Resort Wedding Chronicles - Part 1: The Lamb Situation.

The plan seemed simple.

The bride’s mother, who is vegetarian, had just one small request: with quite a few guests who don’t eat meat attending the wedding, perhaps the first thing they saw when they arrived shouldn’t be… a whole lamb on the spit, head and all.

The solution seemed simple: remove the head.

Stelios thought everything had been arranged.

And that’s where things get interesting.

While everyone tries to work out exactly what is happening with the lamb, Alex and the father of the bride take a more relaxed approach to crisis management: wh**ky, laughter and the firm belief that somehow, everything will be fine.

Then the mother of the bride finds out.

Alex says everything is under control.

But there’s still one question…

Does the head stay or does it go?

40 vegetarian καλεσμένοι. Ένα ολόκληρο αρνί. Και ένα μάλλον απρόσμενο πρόβλημα.

Καλώς ήρθατε στο The Windmill Resort Wedding Chronicles - Part 1: The Lamb Situation.

Το πλάνο φαινόταν απλό.

Η μητέρα της νύφης, η οποία είναι vegetarian, είχε μόνο μία μικρή παράκληση: αφού αρκετοί από τους καλεσμένους δεν τρώνε κρέας, το πρώτο πράγμα που θα αντίκριζαν φτάνοντας στον γάμο να μην είναι… ένα ολόκληρο αρνί με το κεφάλι του στη σούβλα.

Η λύση φαινόταν απλή: να κοπεί το κεφάλι.

Ο Στέλιος πίστευε ότι το θέμα είχε διευθετηθεί.

Και κάπου εκεί αρχίζει η ιστορία μας.

Ενώ όλοι προσπαθούν να καταλάβουν τι τελικά θα γίνει με το αρνί, ο Alex και ο πατέρας της νύφης επιλέγουν μια πιο… χαλαρή μέθοδο διαχείρισης κρίσεων: ουίσκι, πολύ γέλιο και τη βεβαιότητα ότι στο τέλος όλα θα πάνε καλά.

Μέχρι που το μαθαίνει η μητέρα της νύφης.

Και ξαφνικά, το κεφάλι ενός αρνιού γίνεται το σημαντικότερο ζήτημα.

Ο Alex επιμένει ότι όλα είναι υπό έλεγχο.

Μένει μόνο μία ερώτηση:

Τελικά, το κεφάλι θα μείνει ή θα φύγει;

Two hours before a wedding at The Windmill Resort. What could possibly go wrong?

According to Alex, in everything happens at the last minute, and somehow, everything always gets done.

So while the team is outside, under the Kytherian sun, moving, carrying, setting, fixing and making sure every last detail is exactly where it should be…

Alex is inside, enjoying the air conditioning, introducing us to the family, sharing stories and explaining the meaning behind the olive branches in the wedding favours.

Meanwhile, somewhere between tables, flowers and final preparations, a guest needs shaving cream.

And of course, even that gets sorted. Because at The Windmill Resort, apparently, hospitality has no limits.

A little chaos. A lot of running around. Even more heart.

And at the centre of it all, Alex, wh**ky in hand, assuring us that everything is under control.

Or at least… he thinks it is.

Δύο ώρες πριν από έναν γάμο στο The Windmill Resort. Τι θα μπορούσε να πάει στραβά;

Σύμφωνα με τον Alex, στην #Ελλάδα όλα γίνονται τελευταία στιγμή, και με κάποιον τρόπο, στο τέλος γίνονται όλα.

Έτσι, ενώ έξω η ομάδα τρέχει κάτω από τον ήλιο των Κυθήρων, κουβαλάει, στήνει, διορθώνει και φροντίζει μέχρι και την τελευταία λεπτομέρεια…

ο Alex βρίσκεται μέσα, απολαμβάνει το air condition, μας συστήνει το σόι και μας εξηγεί την ιστορία πίσω από τα κλαδιά ελιάς στις μπομπονιέρες.

Και κάπου ανάμεσα σε τραπέζια, λουλούδια και τελευταίες προετοιμασίες, ένας καλεσμένος χρειάζεται… αφρό ξυρίσματος.

Φυσικά, βρίσκεται κι αυτός. Γιατί στο The Windmill Resort, όπως φαίνεται, η φιλοξενία δεν έχει όρια.

Λίγος πανικός. Πολύ τρέξιμο. Ακόμη περισσότερη καρδιά.

Και στη μέση όλων, ο Alex, με το ουίσκι του στο χέρι, να μας διαβεβαιώνει ότι όλα είναι υπό έλεγχο.

Ή τουλάχιστον… έτσι νομίζει.

Καλώς ήρθατε στο όμορφο χάος πίσω από έναν γάμο στο The Windmill Resort.

7-3. Stelios takes the win. 🏆

At least when it comes to our “Who is more likely to…” challenge. But behind the score is something that has been at the heart of The Windmill Resort for years. Alex and Stelios couldn’t be more different. Different personalities, different perspectives, different ways of doing things, and somehow, that’s exactly what makes it work.

From the everyday rhythm of the resort to weddings, celebrations and those last-minute moments when everything needs to come together, each brings something entirely different to the table.

One might win the game.

But when it comes to The Windmill, it’s the combination of the two that makes the magic happen.

Although… 7-3 is still 7-3. Sorry, Alex.

Για τους ελληνόφωνους φίλους μας:

Βάλαμε τον Alex και τον Στέλιο δίπλα δίπλα και τους ζητήσαμε να απαντήσουν σε μερικές γρήγορες ερωτήσεις για το ποιος από τους δύο είναι πιο πιθανό να… προσέξει πρώτος ότι κάτι δεν είναι στη θέση του, να αγχωθεί για τον καιρό πριν από έναν γάμο, να μείνει μέχρι να φύγει και ο τελευταίος καλεσμένος ή να πει «μην ανησυχείς, θα το κάνουμε να δουλέψει».

Το τελικό σκορ; 7-3 για τον Στέλιο. 🏆

Στην πραγματικότητα όμως, αυτό που κάνει αυτή τη συνεργασία τόσο ξεχωριστή είναι ακριβώς το πόσο διαφορετικοί είναι. Δύο διαφορετικές προσωπικότητες, δύο διαφορετικοί τρόποι σκέψης, που εδώ και χρόνια συμπληρώνουν ο ένας τον άλλον και κάνουν το The Windmill Resort αυτό που είναι σήμερα.

It starts with a laugh. As most good stories at The Windmill Resort do.

For Alex and Stelios, hospitality has never been about simply welcoming guests. It’s about making people feel at home, sharing stories, laughing together and, somewhere along the way, becoming friends.

Many of those who arrive at The Windmill Resort are looking for more than a place to stay. They come to experience Kythira as it truly is: its warmth, its people, its way of life. And perhaps that’s what makes this place feel different.

You arrive as a guest. You leave as a friend. And then, you come again.

Hospitality is not simply what we do. It is who we are.

Όλα ξεκινούν με ένα γέλιο. Όπως άλλωστε και οι περισσότερες όμορφες ιστορίες στο The Windmill Resort

Για τον Άλεξ και τον Στέλιο, φιλοξενία δεν σημαίνει απλώς να υποδέχεσαι επισκέπτες. Σημαίνει να τους κάνεις να αισθάνονται σαν στο σπίτι τους, να μοιράζεσαι ιστορίες, να γελάς μαζί τους και, κάπου στην πορεία, να γίνεστε φίλοι.

Πολλοί από όσους φτάνουν στο The Windmill Resort αναζητούν κάτι περισσότερο από έναν όμορφο τόπο διαμονής. Έρχονται για να γνωρίσουν τα Κύθηρα όπως πραγματικά είναι : τη ζεστασιά, τους ανθρώπους, τον τρόπο ζωής του νησιού. Και ίσως αυτό είναι που κάνει αυτό το μέρος διαφορετικό.

Έρχεσαι ως επισκέπτης. Φεύγεις ως φίλος. Και στο μέλλον, επιστρέφεις.

Η φιλοξενία δεν είναι απλώς αυτό που κάνουμε. Είναι αυτό που είμαστε.
