March in Kalyves 🇬🇷 feels like taking a deep breath after a long winter. The sun ☀️ grows stronger every day, the village slowly comes to life, yet everything remains wonderfully calm.
I start my mornings with coffee on the terrace ☕, gazing out over the sea 🌊. After just a 3-minute walk, I’m standing right in the heart of the village square. Adonis greets me warmly: “kalimera, ti kanis?” I cross the street and suddenly I’m on the long, almost deserted sandy beach. The waves gently lap past me 🧿. I stroll through the village center, pass small local shops and stop at my favorite bakery for a koulouri. Back in the apartment, everything feels light and comfortable, exactly the kind of place where days naturally find their own rhythm 🌀.
And for those who linger a little longer or dare to plan ahead, there’s a very special gift 🎁. On April 12th, Greek Orthodox Easter is celebrated. The week leading up to it is an experience in itself. During the day, a serene calm settles over the village; in the evenings, the churches glow with candlelight 🕯️ and chants drift through the narrow streets. On Good Friday, an impressive procession moves slowly and solemnly through Kalyves. And then, on Holy Saturday, the light breaks through ✨: church bells ring, fireworks light up the sky, people embrace and joyfully call out “Christos Anesti.”
On Easter Sunday 🐣, the entire village smells of food 🍽️. Families gather around long tables, lamb is roasted on the spit, magiritsa soup is eaten after midnight, bread is broken and wine is shared 🍷. You’re not just watching, you’re right there in the middle of it, naturally becoming part of village life.
Our apartment in Kalyves is still available in March, perfect for truly settling in by the sea 🏝️. Whether for just a week or even the entire month (fixed monthly rate).
If you want to experience something truly unique, make sure to reserve your spot with us for Easter.
Now is the time to book 💙.
