''DAPHNE''

features a living room with a television, a kitchen, a bathroom with a washing machine (this is where the traditional hand mill is kept, too), two twin-bedded, air conditioned rooms, plus two beds in the first floor hall. Moreover, there are an outdoor sitting areas with a panoramic view to the traditional settlement and the sea. The picturesque village of Nikià, with its typical island architecture, is situated exactly over the impressive volcano of Nisyros. The view to the sea and to the craters of the volcano is unique. The village is 10 km from the sea and 14 km from the harbour of Mandraki. The square of Nikia, with the church of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary, is the jewel of the village and the place where people meet to dance and celebrate. The well-maintained hiking trails of Nisyros promise visitors the vacationers wonderful moments with breathtaking views to the sea and the volcano.

(english below) / Στο μπαλκόνι χωρά ένα κρεμαστό τραπεζάκι για το κρασί ή τον καφέ και δυο καρέκλες. Συγχρόνως όμως χωρά ο κόσμος όλος: η απεραντοσύνη του πελάγους, το φέγγος τ’ ουρανού, η άθιχτη ομορφιά του παραδοσιακού οικισμού, η έκρηξη των χρωμάτων της ανατολής, η μαγεία της δύσης!

At the balcony there are a hanging table for wine or coffee and two chairs. At the same time the whole world fits: the vastness of the sea, the sky, the beauty of the village, the magic of the sunset!

Σαν σε ένα σπίτι – μουσείο, ο επισκέπτης γίνεται γνώστης της υλικής και άυλης κληρονομιάς μιας περασμένης εποχής. Συγχρόνως όμως, απολαμβάνει άνετη διαμονή σε έναν χώρο υψηλής αισθητικής, ο οποίος καλύπτει όλες του τις ανάγκες με πολύ σύγχρονα μέσα.

Ο Αγγελος Πλέσσας προσκάλεσε καλλιτέχνες για ένα ιδιότυπο πρότζεκτ πειραματικής εκπαίδευσης. Ομως τα φυλαχτά, το ηφαίστειο, ακόμα και οι μελισσοκόμοι του νησιού γέννησαν έργα σαν «αποτυπώματα» της εμπειρίας τους. Από κοντά και ο Πάνος Κοκκινιάς με το εντυπωσιακό νέο φωτογραφικό του έργο.
