Lefkada was named after Lefkata, the island’s southernmost cape, known in ancient times as Lefkas Petra (White Rock). Myth has it that the poetess Sappho killed herself by jumping off the cliffs at Lefkas Petra for love of Phaon, a ferryman. According to tradition, the village’s first se

ttlers found an icon of saint in a secluded location. Not knowing whom it represented, they contacted the island’s religious authorities and built a temple in the saint’s name, also naming their village after him. The Lefkas Petra Hotel, constructed in strict accordance with the standards of our traditional settlement, consists of twelve brand new rooms, a swimming pool, a kids’ pool, private parking and a reception/breakfast area. The rooms are spacious doubles, equipped with an LG 32” television, mini fridge (Morris Energy Class A), air-conditioner (LG 9000 BTU), water boiler, and a private balcony offering a panoramic view of the Ionian Sea. Free Wi-Fi high-speed Internet access is available in every room and in all communal areas. Lefkas Petra Hotel is located just 100m from the sandy beach at Agios Nikitas, 150m from the pristine beach at Mylos (formerly a nudist beach), 2km from the cosmopolitan Kathisma beach, and 12km from the city of Lefkada, the island’s capital. For the more adventurous, the world-famous beaches of Porto Katsiki and remote Egremni (both consistently included among the top 10 beaches in Europe) are located 25km from our hotel, easily accessible either via car or the island’s bus service (a stop for which can be found 20m from our front entrance).
