Musée du Louvre, Paris — Venus de Milo (Aphrodite of Milos)
The Venus de Milo is one of the most iconic masterpieces of Hellenistic Greek sculpture, created around 130–100 BC. Discovered on the island of Milos in 1820, it is believed to depict Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of love and beauty.
Shortly after its discovery, the statue was transported to France and presented to King Louis XVIII, eventually becoming part of the collection of the Musée du Louvre, where it remains today as one of the world’s most celebrated works of art.
