Greece marks May 19th as Pontic Greek Genocide Remembrance Day. The Pontic Genocide involved a systematic campaign to eliminate the indigenous Greek population of Anatolia. It included massacres, forced deportations and death marches, expulsions, executions, and the widespread destruction of Eastern Orthodox cultural, historical, and religious sites.
