We are fully booked this season from June to September. It is very noticeable that our villa is so well appreciated. We also find excellent ratings in the reviews. The only downside was the road to the villa, which was in very bad condition and caused nuisance and dust. Unfortunately, we had very little influence on this. We complained to the municipality for 3 and a half years without success. Til now: the road has been neatly paved and the problems have been solved. Our guests can now reach our villa much better.

Once again this year, the beaches near Plakias and Souda have been awarded for their sustainability and clean water. They received the so-called Blue Flag.

The Blue Flag is an international sustainability award for marinas and beaches and has been awarded annually since 1987. The quality mark is an initiative of the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education). In Greece the program is coordinated by the EEPF.

The beaches and marinas must meet strict criteria in the areas of safety, environmental care and provision of information regarding nature and the environment. For beaches, 'excellent' water quality is an important requirement.

For tourists, the Blue Flag is also a symbol of quality: it stands for good beaches and clean sea.

Samaria Gorge will reopen on August 22

The Samaria Gorge in Crete will reopen to the public on August 22. Visitors must then sign a statement stating that they “take full responsibility for the potential risks during their stay in the canyon.

Visitors can download that statement from the ticket sales site samaria-tickets.necca.gov.gr. The form will also be available from tourist offices.

The Samaria Gorge was closed on August 13 after a Spanish tourist was seriously injured by falling rocks. Parts of a rock fell after a magnitude 4.9 earthquake.

We have just concluded the 2022 season and are looking forward to the new season 2023. For the first time, our villa can also be booked during the winter months at very attractive prices. From November 15, 2022 to February 28, 2023.

The Greek health minister has announced that the additional restrictive measures on travelers from outside Greece will expire on 8 February. With a valid QR code you no longer have to quarantine on arrival in Greece and do not need an extra negative test.

A few more European agreements came into effect at the beginning of February. For example, a country may only assess incoming travelers as a person and no longer on the basis of country of origin if it concerns a traveler from the EU. This means that Greece is no longer allowed to treat travelers from the Netherlands and the UK differently than travelers from other EU countries. One may only look at the QR code or tests of the person concerned and not his or her country of origin.

Another European agreement concerns the validity of the test and vaccination certificate. Deadlines for all of Europe are linked to this. Countries may deviate from this but are not expected to do so. For example, the validity of your vaccination becomes 270 days after the last shot (booster).

We have installed a railing on part of our terrace. When the villa was finished it turned out that a more or less dangerous situation had been overlooked. To guarantee our guests a safe stay, we have decided to place a railing on the edge of the terrace in front of the main building. This was placed last week and we are proud that the appearance of the villa has remained and the railing subtly fits into the environment.
