A Perfect day on the Magic Mountain.
The night brought the rain but cleared the air and left us with intensely blue skies with fluffy cloud formations that nestled on hill tops where the dark trunks of the pines looked like stilts with dark green velvet foliage. The drive down to the South of Pelion was quite stunning. A lack of a heat haze ensured the colours of the trees and shrubs were vibrant ,contrasting with one another in various shades of green. They were healthy and fresh and intermittently dabbed with the bright yellow colour of the gorse and the shimmering silvery colour of the olive leaves. On the soft rolling hillsides fields of wheat were waving in the breeze. Goats and kids were hiding and bobbing like rabbits in long lush grass filled with wild flowers and red poppies.
The climax of this little tour was a visit to the Milea Winery in Argalasti where sitting on the terrace one has a spectacular view of the well watered grape vines and the sweeping hills in the distance.
