📌A Greek Tradition to Welcome Spring

🧿Every March 1st, Greeks make and wear a twisted-woven-threads white & red bracelet. This is the ‘Martaki’ (little March) bracelet. The bracelet is worn as a celebration of the start of spring and protection from sunburns from the early spring sun. The white symbolizes purity, and, the red, life and passion.
The Martaki bracelet can be removed and hung on a fruit tree when the first swallow returns from migration, so the bird can use the thread to build its nest.
