••• The Story Behind Axopetra Boutique Hotel •••
Our name carries the spirit of Naxos island.
Just across from the sandy shores of Agiassos Beach, rising from the Aegean, stands a rock called Exopetra (Εξώπετρα in Greek) “the rock beyond the island.” From our hotel, you can gaze at this timeless landmark, a symbol of strength, serenity, and nature’s artistry. Inspired by this rock, we named our coastal retreat Axopetra Boutique Hotel. The word Axio- comes from the Greek ἄξιος (axios) — meaning worthy, valuable. Combined
with petra (πέτρα), meaning rock, it becomes a symbol of both strength and meaning. And here lies a beautiful coincidence: Axios is heard within Naxos. In this way, the name of our hotel reflects not only the rock we see from Agiassos, but also the island itself, a place worthy of discovery, authenticity, and timeless memories and history.
