We're sometimes asked if there's a sea view from Villa Verde. The answer is yes but sorry, it's only from our home on the first floor. This photo shows that the sea is very close. It means that our guests will often hear the sea even if they can't see it without a very short walk.

Sorry we couldn’t get any interesting photos during Brad Pitt’s three day visit to Nea Makri. The film crew understandably didn’t want spectators anywhere near the action. This is a promotion for the final result in case you’d like to look out for it. There should be scenes at Nea Makri’s Nireus Hotel and then at our harbour.

Here in Greece today is "Clean Monday", the start of 40 days of Lent leading up to the start of Easter. It's a holiday when people traditionally feast on seafood. Here in Nea Makri all of the seafood tavernas were fully booked days ago. Yesterday here at Villa Verde we celebrated early with some sea bream and lots of "Venus clams". Quickly steamed in dry white wine with mixed herbs and lots of lightly fried garlic they were delicious!
