A holiday apartment, 53 m², on Nea Makri beach at Marathon bay, 21 Km from Athens airport for 38€ - 44€ (depending on the time of the year), per overnight and optional guided tours.
The rental is available from the 1st of March, till the 30th of November.

Guided excursions (involving driving) start at 15€: Schinias paradise beach with a pine tree forest and a wetland full with migratory birds in the springtime. Ancient temples and castles, mountain lakes and springs, vineyards and rolling hills, heather bushes with purple flowers in the Fall, lonely coastlines and lengthy beaches, hikes around mountaintops and a ferry crossing to the island of Euboea.
The apartment:
The sea is just across the street from the garden door, so you can go out of the apartment, which is on the 1st floor, and take the elevator with your swimming trunks. On your way back there is a shower in the garden. The 53m² apartment has three balconies with garden and mountain view, has been renovated and has new insect screens with high quality aluminum frames on all doors and windows, including the entrance door.
There is a wide, 1,60m, double bed and a sofa in the living room. The furnishings are folk and classic, with a lot of antique furniture.
The omnipresent insect screens, cater for an extra cool stay even in the middle of the summer, without having to worry about insects. According to the temperature and sunshine, you can choose which balcony to sit at, as the bedroom balcony has a lot of sun, whereas the living room balcony will be cool, even during the hottest days of the year.
If it is too hot, there are adjustable awnings for shade at the bedroom and kitchen balcony, to keep the sun out during the hottest hours.
You can use the building’s common garden for relaxing and fitness. The building has three floors, and it is mostly inhabited during July and August. On the first floor, only one other apartment is sometimes inhabited at that time, otherwise the building is nearly empty and very quiet.
The rooftop, above the third floor, is often very nice to enjoy: the view in all directions, the sunset behind Penteli mountains, or even the sunrise across the sea from the great island of Evia.

The surrounding area:
Nea Makri is defined from an 11 Km long beach all the way to Schinias paradise beach to the northeast. To the west, Pendeli mountain towers over Nea Makri town, otherwise lower mountains and hills surround nearly all of the Marathon valley.

Airport transfer for 26€:
If you take a taxi from the airport, have in mind there is a hidden north exit (no signs, but one saying, access only with special permit) so that you take the motorway for a fee and drive double the distance to come to Nea Makri, if the taxi driver is not quite honest. Otherwise you pay around 28€.
I’ll be more than happy to pick you up for 26€, and also drive you through some scenic backcountry roads. For an additional 4€ (total 30€), I’ll also take you to the supermarket. The fridge in the apartment, is big.
Guided Excursions:
The surrounding area of Nea Makri offers a lot of sightseeing.
I have been a dedicated endurance hiker for many years, last six years mostly barefoot. I have explored a lot of areas around my home, up to a 35 Km radius mostly on foot. Furthermore, I have traveled a lot around Greek nature in the past, being active in many hiking clubs, and doing camping.
Excursions are made up of a combination of hiking and car driving.
Small excursions starting from the apartment on foot: up to 2,5 hours – 10€, otherwise 5€ per hour.

Final cleaning:
If you find the apartment clean and tidy to your satisfaction, you can pay an optional 15-20€ for the final cleaning.
Shopping:
I drive you around to do your shopping:
There is a 5€ charge for supermarket shopping up to an hour. If it’s more than an hour and up to 2 hours, it's 10€.
We also have a very nice weekly street market every Thursday with a big variety in fruits and vegetables. Products here often come from smaller villages, taste better and have less chemistry than in the supermarket.
Washing machine:
There is a washing machine in my apartment next door. I wash everything for you and bring them back dry and folded for 5€.
Handmade bread:
Handmade sourdough wholegrain rye bread at 10€ per Kilo: the procedure lasts nearly 24 hours and the work involved is more than four hours.
Herbs:
I boil a mixture of many herbs every day that are diuretic, promote urinary, vascular and total body health. Chanca piedra from Peru is also included, probably the best herb in this respect, that costs more than 100€ per kg. Price per glass 2€.
Fitness training:
Being a fitness freak nearly all my life, I have my own fitness space where I do11 personal training and seminars also on nutrition for 7€ an hour.
