The sky turned red over Crete on April 1st… and no, it wasn’t a filter or a 1st of April fool.
A Sahara dust storm covered the island, transforming the light completely.
Here’s what actually happens:
Sunlight normally looks white, but it’s made up of all colors.
When Sahara dust fills the air, it scatters and blocks the shorter blue wavelengths…leaving the longer red and orange tones to dominate the sky.
So that deep red glow?
It’s not the sky changing…
it’s what your eyes are left with.

Every corner you see is something we’ve designed, built ourselves, chosen, doubted, changed … and believed in anyway.
Not perfect (yet).
But very real. And very close.

Finally… the first plants 🌱
21 m³ of soil.
Turned and mixed 4 times.
Up and down the stairs hundreds of times with approx. 3000 buckets.
Brutal work.
Days of being completely exhausted.
Body sore, arms dead.
But today…
the first plants went in the ground. 🌿

Not the most photogenic part of building a boutique hotel but one of the most important ones.
We moved 15 m³ of soil to prepare our plant beds, shaping the ground before the first plants go in.
This is the kind of work you don’t always see, but it’s what makes everything that comes after possible.

Next step: planting 🌱

Charcoal grills everywhere, the smell of roasted meat in the air, people gathering without much planning.

🌿 ONZE WEBSITE IS LIVE! (Nederlands)

We zetten onze website nu online,
niet omdat alles al af is,
maar omdat het lange wachten eindelijk beloond mocht worden.

Na maanden (en eigenlijk jaren) van dromen, plannen, bouwen, twijfelen, bijsturen en blijven vertrouwen, vonden we dit het juiste moment om al een eerste glimp te delen van wat Eleodendro aan het worden is.

Eleodendro is nog volop in ontwikkeling.
De openingsdatum ligt nog niet vast en dat is bewust zo.
We kiezen ervoor om kwaliteit en afwerking altijd boven snelheid te plaatsen.

Via de website kan je nu al even rondkijken en een voorproefje krijgen van wat we in de loop van dit jaar te bieden hebben...
de sfeer, de plek, het ritme dat we hier willen creëren.

Ondertussen bouwen we achter de schermen gewoon verder.

Wat er momenteel voor ons op het programma staat:

vloerwerken, kleurtjes op de muren en de start van de aanplantingen 🌿

Stap voor stap, met aandacht voor elk detail.

Voor nu vieren we dit moment:
de website staat online,
de droom wordt zichtbaar,
en het verhaal gaat verder.

We’re putting our website online, not because everything is finished,
but because the long wait finally deserves something in return.

After months (and honestly… years) of dreaming, planning, building and trusting,
we wanted to share a first glimpse of what Eleodendro is becoming.

A place that’s still evolving.
Still being shaped.
But already carrying the feeling we’ve held from the very beginning.

Through the website, you can now catch a preview of what we’ll be offering throughout the year...
the atmosphere, the vision, the rhythm we’re creating here.

And while you’re browsing…
know that behind the scenes, we’re still building with full energy.

Right now on the program:

flooring works, colors appearing on the walls and the start of the green landscaping 🌿

Slowly, step by step, it’s all coming together.

The opening date isn’t known yet — and we’re okay with that.
We’re choosing quality, care and timing over rushing.

For now, we celebrate this moment:
the website is live,
the dream is tangible,
and the journey continues.
