We couldn’t resist pulling over the moment we saw the sign. The smell of fresh bread and pastries hit us before we even stepped inside.

I ordered a proper Greek frappé to go — strong, icy, with just the right amount of foam. Classic, refreshing, and exactly what you need after a flight.

✂️ Straight off the plane and into real Rhodes life.

The moment we landed on Rhodes, we drove to , dropped our bags, and headed straight to the charming village of Archangelos. Within an hour of arriving, I found myself sitting in a proper old-school Greek barbershop.

The barber was an absolute legend — classic leather chair, the smell of aftershave and talcum powder in the air, Greek music playing in the background, and that warm, welcoming village atmosphere. No fancy appointments, just walk in, sit down, and enjoy the full experience: haircut, hot towel, straight razor neck shave, the works.

It was the perfect way to shake off the travel dust and immediately feel like a local. Nothing says “I’ve arrived in Greece” quite like a traditional barbershop visit in Archangelos.

These are the little authentic moments that make a holiday at Massari Hills so special.

Our first day on Rhodes was pure magic from the very beginning.

We landed at Rhodes Airport, picked up our rental car from , and drove straight to Massari Hills. The scenic road took us through olive groves and hills until we arrived at our villa, where the breathtaking view immediately took our breath away.

That same evening, we headed to the beautiful village of Archangelos to experience the Christos Anesti midnight Resurrection Service — one of the most beautiful and emotional traditions in Greece. The entire village lit up with candles at midnight, fireworks lit the sky, and the joyful sound of “Christ is Risen!” echoed through the streets.

When we woke up a fresh, delicious Greek salad was waiting for us — ripe tomatoes, crisp cucumber, Kalamata olives, and creamy feta, the perfect welcome after an unforgettable evening.

From airport to candlelight service to our first bite of Greece… what an incredible way to start our holiday at Massari Hills.

We had the chance to experience one of the most magical moments in Greece — the Orthodox Easter Resurrection Service in the beautiful village of Archangelos on Rhodes.

On Holy Saturday night, just before midnight, the entire village gathers at the church in complete darkness. At exactly midnight, the priest lights the first candle from the Holy Flame and announces “Christos Anesti!” (Christ is Risen!). In an instant, hundreds of candles are lit one by one, turning the dark night into a sea of warm, flickering light. The church bells ring joyfully, fireworks light up the sky, and everyone greets each other with “Christos Anesti – Alithos Anesti!” while sharing red Easter eggs.

It’s a powerful, deeply moving tradition that perfectly captures the spirit of renewal, hope, and community — the true heart of Greek Easter.
