Cocooned on a quiet lane in the village of Eleftherna, the superb Villa Eleftherna is a rural hideaway, stone-built in traditional style. Set in an area of magnificent natural beauty, surrounded by gardens of pretty flowering shrubs and fruit trees, it is more than a country cottage or a holiday villa. Built on the highest spot of the village, it offers breathtaking views on the Cretan Sea, Mt. Pr
ivate but not remote, Villa Eleftherna is next to the village square, where you can find traditional Greek taverns, cafes and a mini-market. It is conveniently situated 7 km from Arkadi, the historical monastery (to the west) and about 5 km from Margarites, a village well-known for its traditional pottery (to the east). The sandy beaches of Rethymno are only 12 km away and both airports of the island (Chania and Heraklion) are 80 and 85 km away respectively. It has a big garden with barbecue facilities and a traditional oven, parking area and a swimming pool of 40 sqm. It can accommodate up to 8 persons in 4 bedrooms (two single-bedded and two double-bedded). Also, two more persons can be accommodated in the comfortable sofas and there is a baby cradle available. All bedrooms have a balcony or a large veranda. In particular, there is a 35sqm balcony on the ground floor with a large wooden table and chairs. Each bedroom on the ground floor has its own 6sqm balcony. Upstairs, there are spacious balconies for each bedroom. One is 34sqm and has a view of the garden, whereas the other is 14sqm and overlooks the surrounding green area. There are two WC/bathrooms (with bath) and a whirlpool bath. All rooms are air-conditioned and have TV. The sitting-room provides a complete entertainment area, as the TV corner has a DVD player, satellite TV, Internet access and a fireplace, which makes the house an appealing winter destination as well. The modern fully-equipped kitchen has all the essentials (such as electric oven, microwave, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, coffee machine and toaster). All the interiors are cozy and tastefully decorated with wooden and iron furniture, elegant drapery and curios. Comfortable sofas and big dining tables (both inside and outside) guarantee relaxed summer evenings. The good-size pool stands alongside the villa with reclining chairs and umbrellas and makes an idyllic place to sit and be soothed by the warm sun. Given the location of the village and the landscape, there are numerous attractive hiking and cycling routes. The European path E4 crosses the village and passes through behind the building. The villa provides 4 mountain bicycles and light hiking equipment (batons) for free. Visitors can also easily explore the archaeological site of ancient Eleftherna (which is a stone-throw away), the cave of Melidoni or Zoniana.
