Kourtaliotiko and Kotsifou Gorges

Spring has arrived and what is better than a trip in nature! If you enjoy a quick excursion during your holidays, we suggest you spend a day visiting one or both of the gorgeous gorges near the Gasparakis Villas & Bungalows.

The first and most popular is the Kourtaliotiko gorge that has been named after the whistles of air that go through the rocks and make a sound that resembles that of a thunder. It has huge rocky slopes and there are rare species of beautiful birds and reptiles. As you walk through the gorge you will come across the church of St. Nicholas and the crystal springs of the Kourtaliotis river. Moreover, you will enter a natural palm tree forest that has been characterized as the second most important palm grove of Crete!

The second gorge is the one of Kotsifos and has a wild and enchanting beauty, as you will find intense vegetation at its depths and rocks. As you cross the gorge, the imposing rocks will take your breath away. At its top, built inside the rocks, resided the small church of St. Nicholas and further up are the ruins of the traditional watermill of “Vavourion”. During the winter, there is an impressive 20 meters waterfall! In the area of the bridge where the sources of Kotsifos river form a small lake. The lake's water ends up through the surrounding villages to the beaches of Plakias.

Just a fifteen minutes drive from Gasparakis Vilas & Bungalows resides the wonderful Preveli Beach, a beautiful place with naturally grown palm trees.

There you can swim, relax and explore the palm tree forest and it's river, coming across many picturesque small ponds and waterfalls with shallow water.

You can get there by either car or boat embarking from Plakia's port. It's a spectacular boat trip as on the way to Preveli Beach you hop off to other beautiful beaches with crystal clear blue waters.

It will be our pleasure to assist you in visiting the magical palm tree forest and experience one of the beauties of Crete!

Walking distance to the Gasparakis Villas & Bungalows resides our small farm with domestic animals such as donkeys, ducks, goats and peacocks. This beautiful farm was initially created with the sole purpose to acquaint our own kids to this way of life. Over the years, our farm has become popular among our guest who often visit the animals with their own kids in order to feed, play and take photos with them. Recently, our duck gave birth to 12 little ducklings and so our family grew significantly up! Our cute friends are waiting for you to meet them and are ready to accept and respond to your love! Our place has 3 beautiful and comfortable bungalows which are, Iris, Myrto and Electra! Αll are autonomous and can accommodate from 2 to 3 people.
Come with your spouse or your family and enjoy the provided comforts. In order to forget about the past and live the present, we created Gasparakis Villas & Bungalows in a dream environment amongst olive groves and farmland in an area with great natural beauty in southern Rethymnon, Lefkogeia. The location is ideal. Traditional tavernas are in closed distance where you may explore the famous Cretan cuisine while right in your door step are some of some of Crete’s most unique beaches such as Amoudi Beach at 2km and Preveli Palm Beach at 5km.

The villas and bangalows are decorated in loving care to help you stay in comfort. They are independent and include large gardens, BBQ facilities, private parking space and large private pool. All beds have natural, orthopedic mattresses and allergic free pillows made from 100% cotton.

All residences are two story with modern interior and fully equipped. A modern kitchen, with all needed appliances and a dining table, is located in the ground floor along with the living and dining areas. The living room included entertainment facilities, satellite TV, DVD, CD and Ιnternet (free Wi-Fi). The ground floor also includes a WC.

In the top floor you will find the sun-filled rooms and bathrooms. All rooms, along with the main living areas, have terraces and balconies with beautiful views of the area and the gulf of Plakias. All outdoor spaces are fully featured with furniture and relax facilities.
