The Walnut Tree is a spacious villa in a rural setting with panoramic views of the Greek countryside, the hillsides and mountains of Kefalonia and glimpses of the Ionian Sea and the island of Ithaca. The villa is arranged on two floors comfortably accommodating ten guests in five bedrooms in two self-contained apartments, making it suitable for two families or groups of friends wishing to holiday

together. Extra guests can be accommodated by arrangement with the owners. The villa is set in secluded gardens and landscaped grounds of just over an acre with a private (10m x 5x) swimming pool, a boule court, table tennis, a barbecue area. The location of The Walnut Tree villa is central to the island of Kefalonia and perfect for exploring the rest of this fascinating and beautiful holiday destination.

Now we have the privilege of sharing a place that means so much to us with our guests — watching them create their own special memories with the people they love.

T = Tavernas 🍽️

Is there anything better than a long, lazy Greek lunch or dinner? 😍

Kefalonia has so many wonderful tavernas, most are family run where you will receive good food and a warm welcome! Here are a few of our favourites — all in and around the Sami area, so they're super convenient from The Walnut Tree! 💙

🍽️ **Deco** — Jackie’s favourite! Possibly because her first visit was with her girlfriends, enjoying amazing food, great company… and no kids! 😂🍷

🐟 **Mermaid** — traditional Greek favourites and a lovely spot for a relaxed meal.

🍕 **Contessina** — one of our firm favourites, and Lewis absolutely loves their amazing pizzas! 🍕

🥙 **Mangiare** — a firm favourite with Johnny, who absolutely loves their gyros! 😋

🍷 **Bellos** — on the road to Poros, and well worth stopping for delicious food and that wonderful, laid-back Greek taverna feel.

🌿 **Kallithea Taverna** — Richard’s favourite! Amazing views down towards Sami, and their Sunday lunch (Inferno) is simply amazing. Wonderful food, a lovely family and a view that’s hard to beat. ❤️

Because a Kefalonian holiday wouldn't be complete without good food, good company, a glass of something cold and nowhere else you need to be.☀️

And this year alone, The Walnut Tree has provided the setting for numerous birthdays ages 1-70! 🎂🎉

This summer is no exception, with friends we haven't seen for more than 10 years returning to spend time together after emigrating to Tasmania.

Q=Quince 🍂🍐

From Garden to Table at The Walnut Tree Villa 🌿

We’re lucky enough to have our own quince trees, alongside plums, lemons and oranges.

When the quinces are ready, we love to poach them slowly with honey, cinnamon and a touch of lemon, until they're soft, fragrant and beautifully golden.

Served with thick, creamy Greek yoghurt… simple, seasonal perfection. 🇬🇷✨

If you're lucky enough to visit The Walnut Tree this autumn, you might just get to taste them too!

The Kefalonia A–Z is back! 🇬🇷💙

Following our holiday on the island, we're back with our Kefalonia A–Z!

O = Olive Trees 🌿🫒

We're lucky enough to have our own olive grove at The Walnut Tree Villa, with a mixture of Koroneiki and Kalamata olive trees.

This year we brought in the experts, had the soil tested and gave the trees some extra TLC. 🌿 The verdict? Good quality, healthy trees! 🙌

And now for the exciting bit…

🫒 Autumn 2026 will be our very first olive harvest! 🎉

Who knows… one day we might even have our own Walnut Tree olive oil! 🇬🇷💙
