There may be a reason why a bed overlooking water feels different.
Research into blue spaces suggests that proximity to water can support psychological restoration, reduce perceived stress and encourage states of calm. The horizon gives the eyes somewhere to rest. Repetitive movement creates a gentle visual rhythm. Natural light changes slowly across the room. The soundscape asks less of our attention.
Together, these are signals of lower sensory demand.
And when the brain has less to process, the body has more opportunity to move away from constant alertness and towards rest.
Perhaps this is why lying in bed beside the Aegean can feel so instinctively calming.
The architecture frames the water, but the water completes the space.
Here, the view was never designed simply to be beautiful.
It was designed to be felt.
