Ο Φοίβος ροδοκόκκινος αργοκυλά στη δύση σέρνοντας σύννεφα χρυσά γι’ ασύγκριτη χλαμύδα·σε λίγο πίσ’ απ’ το βουνό κει κάτω θε ν’ αφήσει μισόσβηστη και θαμπερή την υστερνή τ’ αχτίδα.

Η θάλασσα π’ απλώνεται βουβή και νεκρωμένηανατριχιάζει κάποτε στα χάδια του αγέρα,κι οι ψαροπούλες, ροδαλές στου ήλιου που πεθαίνει το ματωμένο βλέμμα, ξανοίγονται ώς πέρα.

Η νύχτ’ απλώνει απαλά το μαύρο της σεντόνι και αφανίζει άπονα κάθ’ ομορφιά και χάρη, ακούγεται το άχαρο κελάδημα του γκιόνη κι αργοπροβάλλει ντροπαλό τ’ ολόχλωμο φεγγάρι.
