Villa Niki Aptera A unique stone built house in Aptera-Megala Chorafia, Chania Villa Niki consists of two different stone built buildings.

With great sensitivity and respect we renovated our great grandparents ‘house, built in 1860, in the traditional village of Aptera-Megala Chorafia, in distance just 13km away from the city of Chania. The position of the village, over the National Road, makes Aptera ideal as a base for a lot of destinations. d, but in the same time it is equipped with all modern comforts. The bigger one-Villa Niki 1 provides a fully equipped kitchen, a bedroom, living room, bathroom, energy fireplace, air-conditioning, washing machine and dishwasher. It has the capacity of hosting up to 5 people (1 double bed, sofa-bed, sofa). The smaller one - Villa Niki 2 provides a fully equipped kitchen, a bedroom, living room, bathroom with the capacity of hosting up to 4 people (1 double bed, sofa-bed). Both of them provide internet access, TV and hi-fi. In the two separate yards of Villa Niki you can rest under the shadow of the old bower, in absolute silence, read a book of our rich library, watching the magical view to White Mountains, surrounded by herbal plants and trees. Villa Niki is situated 1km away from the main square of the village, in which you will find restaurants with traditional Cretan food, cafés and a mini market. The archaeological site of ancient Aptera is situated 2km away. You will see remains of the Wall of the town(4th century BC) and also remains of the Cisterns, Baths and the recently excavated theatre, all monuments of the Roman Era. If you continue after the archaeological site, a walk in the Turkish castle offers a breathtaking view to the Suda Bay, Peninsula of Akrotiri and White Mountains. The village is 5km away of the port of Suda, 25km away of the Airport of Chania and just 5 km away of the beaches of Kalives, Kiani Akti and Almyrida. The whole region of Apokoronas offers unique excursions in traditional villages and walking tours in nature.

Εδώ και δεκαετίες, ο ξεχωριστός πλούτος της αρχαίας Απτέρας έρχεται σταδιακά στο φως μέσα από αδιάκοπη επιστημονική έρευνα και μελέτη, με τη συντήρηση και αναστήλωση των μνημείων της, με την απόδοση και έκθεση των ευρημάτων της προς το κοινό. Την ίδια στιγμή, σειρά από αρχαιολογικές και αρχιτεκτονικές μελέτες -όπως και έργα ανάδειξης- προετοιμάζονται και υλοποιούνται με τη σταθερή υποστήριξη της ελληνικής πολιτείας, της τοπικής αυτοδιοίκησης, καθώς και χρηματοδοτικών προγραμμάτων από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση. Οι πολιτιστικές εκδηλώσεις και οι εκπαιδευτικές δράσεις που πραγματοποιούνται, είτε στον αρχαιολογικό χώρο, είτε αλλού, συμβάλλουν περαιτέρω στην εξοικείωση των πολιτών και επισκεπτών των Χανίων -όπως και ευρύτερου κοινού- με την αξία της αρχαίας Απτέρας και με τη διασύνδεσή της με άλλες εμβληματικές αρχαίες πόλεις της Κρήτης.

Στις 24, 25 & 26 Ιουλίου 2020, η ανασκαμμένη αρχαία πόλη της Απτέρας ήρθε στο φως. Έπειτα από ειδικό σχεδιασμό φωταγωγήθηκαν μνημεία του αρχαιολογικού χώρου, όπως οι κλειστές και ανοιχτές δεξαμενές, τα λουτρά, η ρωμαϊκή οικία, και το αρχαίο θέατρο. Η περιήγηση των επισκεπτών στον χώρο πραγματοποιήθηκε μέσα από συγκεκριμένες διαδρομές, οι οποίες συνεχίζουν να διαμορφώνονται στο πλαίσιο του εκτελούμενου έργου ανάδειξης της αρχαίας Απτέρας και διασυνδέουν τα μνημεία μεταξύ τους. Η εκδήλωση κατάφερε να αναδείξει τόσο τα φωτισμένα με ιδιαίτερο τρόπο μνημεία, όσο και τη μοναδική τους φυσική θεατρική σκηνογραφία.
