Happy Easter! Syros takes the celebration of this religious festival to another level. Catholics and Orthodox Christians celebrate Easter side-by-side with processions, midnight masses, red painted eggs, fireworks and festive meals with lamb on a spit. Our all year round favourite: lambchops with a pinch of lemon!

When in Villa Ariadne make sure to do a sunset hike to Agios Stephanos, a chapel in a cave. The story goes that a fisherman was rescued by the tentacles of a large octopus after calling the gods for help. As a thank you, he built the chapel in this special place.
