As the night falls over Santorini, the village slowly fills with light… just before midnight 🕯️

Candles in hand, quiet wishes, and the soft glow of the Resurrection create a feeling that is hard to describe - only to experience.

Each year, we share a small part of this tradition with our guests.

In their basket, they find melitini, a delicate local sweet of Santorini, handmade with fresh cheese and thin dough, and a glass of Vinsanto, the island’s signature wine, naturally sweet from sun-dried grapes - little flavors, quietly leading into the night of the Resurrection.

Because Easter night is all about light - a single flame, gently passed from one candle to another, until everything around you begins to glow. ✨

In that same spirit, the Easter candles are chosen from Το Χαμόγελο του Παιδιού - The Smile of the Child an organization inspired by a 10-year-old boy’s wish - that every child, everywhere, grows up with love, dignity, and a smile. 🤍

A Greek National Holiday and a Day of Celebration. At the peak of our summer vacation period, we celebrate the Virgin Mary and the country is transformed into a big church festival.

A traditional Panigyri – a religious festival – is a highlight of the season for Greeks and also for visitors who seek a truly authentic experience. Visiting a panigyri is a wonderful way to connect with the culture of Greece.

August 15 is a big day for the Greek Orthodox Church and for the people of Greece, who celebrate the Dormition of the Virgin or Assumption of Mary. It is not regarded as a day of grief, however, but a day of joy and celebration of her divine qualities, as the Church and the people believe that the Mother of Christ did not die, but ascended to Heaven.
