Pyrgos Village in Santorini, Greece

Pyrgos is a picturesque village built amphitheatrically on a hill that offers magnificent views of Santorini in almost all directions. On top of ths hill remain the ruins of a Venetian castle (Kasteli). Pyrgos is a typical example of medieval architecture with narrow, labyrinthine streets, fortified walls and hidden passages.

Being one of the highest villages on the island, Pyrgos is one of the coolest in the heat of the summer. The constant breeze creates a pleasant difference in temperature when compared to other villages on the island.
