"Northern Greece" by Bradt Travel Guides
The first printed travel guide about Northern Greece is a reality (as of 9.1.2020)!

This new guide to Northern Greece, written by Greece expert and long-time travel writer Dana Facaros, is the only guide available to the region and includes the areas of Epirus, Thessaly, Macedonia and Thrace, complete with their five dramatically beautiful national parks, the country's highest peaks and mountain lakes, rushing rivers and the world's deepest gorge, and (this is Greece, after all) long sandy beaches. Sections on background and practical information are followed by an easy-to-follow breakdown of the area offering detailed coverage in 12 chapters, from Greece's second city, Thessaloníki, to Chalkidikí, Central Macedonia, Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, Western Macedonia, Epirus (including Ioánnina), Thessaly and Magnesía, the Pelion Peninsula and the Islands, plus a short chapter on Athens, the gateway for many visitors to Greece.
Greece is becoming more popular by the year and this area in particular offers the more natural, authentic experience that many travellers seek. Bradt's Northern Greece focuses on just this relatively unknown but up-and-coming region and is an ideal companion for travellers of all ages, budgets and interests, from culture lovers to wildlife enthusiasts, history buffs to archaeologists, foodies to wine connoisseurs. Holidays in the great outdoors are covered, too, including mountain climbing, skiing, white water rafting, rock climbing, sailing, canyoning and sea kayaking, not to mention those who just want to sit on a sandy beach and dance the night away.

About the author
Dana Facaros has been in love with Greece ever since she was 14 and spent a summer on her father's native island Ikaria. After studying ancient Greek, mythology and the classics during a brief stint at university, she has been visiting and writing about the country since 1977, when she wrote her first guidebook, to the Greek islands. She later co-authored the Cadogan guide to all Greece with Linda Theodorou, published in 2003. While researching that book she concentrated on Northern Greece. Since then she has become a Greek citizen and writes frequently about Greece for the Sunday Times and Sunday Times Travel Magazine.

Northern Greece travel guide - travel information and holiday advice including Thessaloníki hotels and restaurants, Mount Olympus, Mount Athos, the Víkos Gorge, Meteora, Lake Plastíra, the Pelion Peninsula and Skiáthos. Also covering Alexander the Great,

We wish you a great year and a great decade, full of health, love and positive energy!
Danos-Magia

Magia and Danos (Daniil): your hosts in Northern Greece, always by your side, well after your reservation is done!

Many accommodation owners think that their tasks end when a reservation is done. That doesn't happen in our case though by no means!
When you make a reservation, either in our seafront apartment in Nikiti village area (Sithonia/Halkidiki) or in our villa in Agios Antonios village (Thessaloniki eastern outskirts, on the way to Halkidiki), a very creative interaction starts between you and us.
First we ask you if you have any particular needs, for example with the bed arrangements, with kid's specific needs, with any specific meal or shop requirements etc.
At the same time comes our electronic guide, that is sent to you right after your reservation, with many personal proposals about things we like in our area (and much further ahead), like sightseeings, beaches, mountains, museums, kid's activities, restaurants and cafes and much more. So if the reservation is well ahead your arrival date, you have a lot of time to study well our area and make the most out of it.
In the same time we ask you about any other personal interests you and your family or company might have, in order to see if our area can cover some or all of them. If, for example, you are interested in industrial heritage, we can gladly propose you some very specialized museums in Thessaloniki that cater for your very specific interests (for example Water Museum, Radio Museum, Train Museum, Pharmaceutical Museum etc.) and we can gladly make all the contact and visit arrangements on your behalf.
Then whenever a special event arises in our area, that we think might be of interest to you, for example a music concert or a special gastronomy tour etc., we will send you a message with all the relevant information, in order for you to decide if you want to take advantage of it. And of course In case of any sudden unfortunate event (a need for a hospital or a veterinarian for your dog etc.) we are readily available to help you.
So as we like to say "the walls of the house that you rent, is the least thing of your journey to our area". The continuous support in order to live pleasant and enduring experiences during your trip, is a task that we always carry very gladly and with a big smile!
After all you are coming to Greece/Hellas, the land where Philoxenia has been a practice since ancient times!
