🌿 We’re proud to celebrate Terra Oleana Cottages in Zakynthos as the first Greek tourism SME to successfully complete its full sustainability journey under the I-STARS Grant Scheme! 🇬🇷🌞
Nestled within the century old olive groves of Vasilikos, these three charming cottages have set a new benchmark for sustainability in the Ionian islands — thanks to the expert guidance of sustainability consultancy TRIAENA Synergies (TRI.SYN.C.) and the support of the I-STARS Greek Project team.
🏆 Key Achievements:
✅ Installed water filtration and softening systems, making tap water drinkable
✅ Reduced total annual food waste to under 200 kg
✅ Introduced a 3-stream waste separation system for guests and staff
✅ Lowered energy use through smart guest engagement and eco-responsible infrastructure
✅ Adopted a roadmap for official sustainability certification
✅ Launched efforts to involve guests and local stakeholders in water, waste, and energy awareness
🌍 Terra Oleana proves that even small-scale businesses can lead the way in sustainable tourism — delivering comfort while protecting local resources and biodiversity.
