🌊✨ Our Favourite South Crete Beaches all just a scenic drive from Zaros, are where we go to reset, recharge, and reconnect. Each beach has its own unique landscape, energy, and vibe, from ancient healing sites to wild naturist stretches, from deep stillness to soft barefoot bliss. The diversity down here in the south of Crete is unreal and these beaches capture it all. 🏝️

🥇 Lentas Beach
You feel it the moment you arrive this ancient, grounding energy. Once a Minoan healing sanctuary, now a peaceful pebble beach shaped like a lion 🦁The water is calm and deep, the air feels cleaner, and time just slows. Add a seaside lunch and a front row seat to sunset it’s everything. 🌅

🥈 Kommos Beach
Kommos is wide open wild, windkissed and full of contrast. Long stretches of golden sand meet untamed waves and hidden archaeological ruins 🏺. Some parts are naturist friendly, others feel like your own private sanctuary. With dunes behind you and endless sea ahead, this is where you come to let go and breathe.

🥉 Red Beach (Kokkini Ammos)
Red Beach is the definition of hidden paradise. A short rocky hike brings you to this deep red gold bay hugged by cliffs and lapped by sapphire waters. 🧡 It’s quiet, clothes optional and fully off the grid, no roads, no shops, just you and the elements. The energy is warm and primal like the Earth itself is glowing.

Tucked just around the corner from Lentas, Diskos is its barefoot, bohemian cousin. Simpler, softer, and even more peaceful this beach is all about hammocks, hand painted signs, slow mornings, and moonlit swims. 🌿 The landscape feels intimate, with tamarisk trees offering shade and crystal waters offering calm. If you want a gentle, healing vibe Diskos is your place.

🌿✨ Zaros, Crete – where time slows down and nature whispers stories ✨🌿

Tucked away on the southern slopes of Mount Psiloritis, Zaros isn’t just a village, It’s a living, breathing piece of Cretan heritage. Known for its legendary natural spring water (you’ve probably seen it bottled!), Zaros has been nourishing body and spirit since ancient Minoan times.

🏺 Did you know? Zaros was once a sacred spot in antiquity, with its waters believed to be blessed by nymphs. The name itself means “place with plenty of water.”

💚 Today, life in Zaros moves at a different rhythm. Locals tend to olive groves, gather herbs from the mountains, and welcome travelers with warm smiles and raki in hand. It’s a village where yiayias still bake bread in wood ovens, and where the bakery scent wakes you up before the sun does.

We are endlessly grateful to be surrounded by our own little paradise, a garden that gives us so much more than food. 🌿🍊
It provides fruit, vegetables and herbs to nourish us, yes! but also shade on hot summer days, the scent of thyme and oregano drifting in the breeze and the quiet reminder that the seasons are always turning. This small space is alive buzzing with bees, fluttering with butterflies, visited by lizards and birds, wrapped in the sounds and colors of nature. It keeps our hands busy and our hearts soft. It gives us both work and joy, effort and reward. It grounds us, connects us, and reminds us what truly matters.

Each day, we witness the garden shaping our rhythm and returning us to ourselves. Among the roots and branches, we find rituals: watering in the golden light of morning, harvesting with stained fingers, brushing against herbs that perfume the air. It becomes a meditation, a teacher, a companion. The mountain winds bring whispers of ancient soil and sea salt, while the plants from diktamos and malotira, to psilokoumaria, Cretan marjoram, figs, pomegranates and wild sage speak in the quiet language of resilience and abundance. Even in such a small place, we are immersed in a universe of connection, where everything has its role, and everything offers something back.
