The idea was to create a small, homely budget hostel. The space
The Hummingbird Hostel in Tzununa is a great base from which to explore the surrounding wonders of Lake Atitlan. Only a 5 minute walk from the dock, The Hummingbird Hostel offers big comfy beds; clean rooms with lamps; hammocks and a communal area for eating; free wifi and hot showers; a veggie restaurant with delicious smoothies and
local coffee; water filter for refilling your own bottle; a lush garden packed with humming birds and flowers; a chilled vibe from where you can reflect on the sites you’ve soaked up that day. Yoga classes and meditation are available- just ask! Tzununa is an untouched and authentic Kaqchikel village. Much quieter and with less hustle and bustle than the other lake towns, Tzununa is an undiscovered gem, full of charm and tranquility. Yet to be developed into a tourist hub, you are likely to hear only the sounds of children playing or church singing, with a chorus of insects at night. If hiking and nature is your thing, there are a multitude of different walks of varying difficulty for you to tackle. A stunning waterfall lies only 25 minutes away, and there is the famous Jailbalito hike with amazing views across the lake. You can order smoothies and veggie delights here with us, or you can wander to Maya Moon or the Hotel Bamboo for European food and drink with great views and atmosphere. There are also a few local restaurants for cheap and easy options.
