We haven’t forgotten, and we are still feeling the excitement from welcoming some of ballroom’s most inspiring icons to Mondrian Hong Kong. The energy, artistry and spirit they brought into the hotel continue to stay with us.
Rooted in the creativity and resilience of Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ communities in New York, ballroom culture has grown into a global movement centred on freedom of expression, chosen family and unapologetic visibility. It is a space where individuality is celebrated and people can shine as their truest selves. That vibrant sense of openness and self-expression naturally resonates with the inclusive hospitality we champion at Mondrian Hong Kong.
Mondrian Hong Kong became home for the weekend to several icons and cultural leaders shaping ballroom across continents:
• Mackenzie Prodigy — an international force known for dynamic voguing and mentorship within the community
• Barbie Gorgeous Gucci .swae — a symbol of beauty, resilience, and trans visibility on and off the runway
• Sharron Ninja .ninja — Mother of the House of Ninja, bridging New York roots with Asia’s ballroom evolution
• Pong Telfar Oricci — a rising presence in Asia’s ballroom scene, redefining runway with confidence and pride
• Wai Wai Ebony — a versatile performer bringing global ballroom language to Hong Kong
Ballroom and Mondrian share a simple truth: that bold self-expression matters, that community has power, and that everyone deserves the space to be seen exactly as they are.
The celebration may be over, but the feeling — and the connection — lives on.
