Review of Brisa Del Mar: Balinese Style Oceanfront Villa

A peaceful and private piece of paradise
Left on Mar 19, 2018 for a stay in Mar 2018
We just spent 10 wonderful days in Brisas del Mar at Villas del Mar on the north east coast. It’s a beautiful Balinese style home with similar wood furniture, comfy indoor and outdoor seating, small infinity pool which we cooled off in on warm mornings, 2 mosquito netted king beds, 2 full baths with plush bath towels, walk in stone showers, all the beach towels needed, and a sweet resident cat. Kitchen was well appointed and we hired Rosa to cook our dinners for all but 1 night that we decided to eat out (wasn’t nearly as good as her cooking). Renters need to shop for food and do so for at least the 1st meal on the way in but Rosa would take care of anything we needed so we didn’t have to venture out to the supermarket which was a 20 min- ½ hour trek each way on pot holed roads. I got my fill of lobster and Rosa would get all our fresh fish. They also do a pizza night on Tuesday from a wood-burning oven that is handmade. We are pizza snobs, very picky, and really enjoyed it. We brought from home wine and specialty food items we like although the supermarket is good for most. We did have a vehicle to venture out (included) and we did only a few days. It was so peaceful, beautiful and private that we didn’t want to go anywhere else. The reef close to the property was healthy and teeming with life. We also at the call to the property caretaker, Fausto, had kayaks we could use to get out to snorkel the outer reef that was amazing. We rented their boat for a day and had an awesome day snorkeling at a private island beach (Jade) and reef off the far eastern coast. There are plenty of adventuresome things to do (diving, beaches, dolphin encounter at a sanctuary (amazing), fishing, zip lining or a lot of nothing! Bruce and his wife Nicki are gracious hosts (when they are there) and full of information about the island. Their son Phil manages the property and was at our beckon call whenever we needed anything. The staff was so helpful and attentive, and did their job with a smile. They’re considered family to Bruce and Nicki. We felt so at home and also like part of their family. We are sure to come back and may splurge and rent Mariposa (incredible) or Feugo. If you are looking for peace and quiet away from the tourist track and cruise ship hoards, this is the place to be.
