Quartz (Cuarzo) vs. Quartzite (Cuarcita), let’s talk about these two different countertops.
QUARTZ:
- man made / engineered stone
- repetitive man-made pattern, ineligible for exact match continuous pattern on an island or long countertop
- crushed quartz mixed with resin
- non-porous, low-maintenance, resistant to stains
- can be damaged by high heat
QUARTZITE:
- 100% natural stone with continuous, one-of-kind veining that is perfect for exact match, continuous veining in large islands
- more resistant to high heat than quartz so pots won’t leave a dark ring
- durable stone that’s harder than granite
- porous & needs periodic sealing
Personally, my designers choice is QUARTZITE. The stones are gorgeous and bring luxury and beauty to a kitchen that are unmatched by quartz while also being a tough, durable surface for kitchens. The stone featured in this Reel is PERLA VENATA QUARTZITE.
However, quartzite tends to be close to double the cost of quartz, so it’s an investment. My designer recommendation is:
VACATION RENTAL: quartz
PERSONAL HOME: quartzite all the way. You want to *love* your countertops & you get one chance to choose & get it right.
Need help choosing a countertop? I LOVE visiting stone warehouses & can help you get it right.
