PAINT IN THE MEDITERRANEAN PARADISE
6 DAY ARTISTIC RETREAT, VILLA SEAGULL, JELSA, ISLAND HVAR, CROATIA
Academic painter Vančo Rebac gives artistic lessons and runs painting and drawing workshop in a beautiful family stone house in Jelsa, a small picturesque town on Hvar, one of the most renowned Adriatic islands. Arrangement includes bed and breakfast, daily artistic workshops, a trip to the ancient stone village in the hills and to the seaside, for groups from 4 to 10 attendees. From Mirna, Vančo's mother, you can get a quick info about long and rich history of the island of Hvar, about the Mediterranean aromatic plants and spices, and she also give you some plants, fruits and vegetables.
Lessons will provide general insight in realistic, impressionist-expressionist and abstract approach to art-making. Seaside and inland, hills, forests, and old stone architecture serve as starting point of the workshop. Mild Mediterranean climate in spring and late summer/early autumn gives great opportunities for painting in the open (plein-aire). Colours and scents in this time of year are hypnotic. It is another face of the island, which remains unknown to high season visitors.
The goal is that every attendee makes an authentic work, depending on the temperament and the inspiration of the author. You can choose between different materials and techniques, including pencil, charcoal, ink, pastels, acrylique, aquarelle, gouache...
Attendees can, but are not reqired to, have any artistic experience.
