Before reviews had a format, Kalamota’s guests made their own.

Guests of the former Pension Kalamota wrote, drew, sketched, added verses and notes, pasted in photographs and filled the margins with observations, signatures and private jokes.

That seems fitting for a house founded by painter Rudolf Marčić, where artists, writers, composers and travellers came not only to stay, but to create.

Over the years, their contributions turned the Book of Impressions into something entirely its own — a collective work shaped by everyone who passed through Kalamota.

Almost a century later, those pages have found their way back into the house.

Look closely around Kalamota Beach House and you’ll find them on the walls: the island, as seen by those who were here before us.
