Apartment Majda Makarska is pleased to inform you that we have started a collaboration with an olive ranch from Brac and a vineyard in the Makarska region at Slime (Brela) to offer our future guests fine quality products from the region.
The olive oil is pure unfiltered olive oil from the island of Brac (the island of olives) which is located just outside the city of Makarska.
Then we have our own red wine from the Makarska Riviera at Slime (near Brela) which is picked from the grape "Plavac Mali".
All our future guests will be able to order olive oil or red wine on site during their vacation.
Kind regards,
Emil and Lina
Information about the grape variety
Plavac Mali is a blue grape variety that is mainly grown along the Dalmatian coast in Croatia. It is known for producing full-bodied, tannic red wines with flavors of dark berries, spices and sometimes a touch of herbs or to***co. The grape is closely related to Zinfandel, with Plavac Mali being a cross between Crljenak Kaštelanski (Zinfandel's ancestor) and Dobričić
Characteristics:
* Origin: Dalmatia, Croatia.
* Wine type: Mainly red wines, but also rosés and semi-sweet red wines.
* Taste: Full-bodied, tannic with notes of dark berries (blackcurrants, cherries, plums), spices, herbs and sometimes a hint of to***co or figs.
* Alcohol content: Can be high, often between 12-17%.
* Related to: Zinfandel (Primitivo).
* Character: Powerful wines with good structure and potential to age.
* Famous areas: Dingač and Postup on the Pelješac peninsula, as well as islands such as Brač, Vis and Hvar.
Plavac Mali wines are known for their deep color, often dark ruby red, and their aromatic profile. They can be a bit rustic and often have a distinct character with clear tannins. Many wines do well with aging, but can also be enjoyed young.
