BEHIND THE SCENES | Meet Jarib & Christian 👨‍🍳👨‍🍳

A strong kitchen is never about one person. It is about the team behind every service, every plate and every guest experience.
At Gava Waterman Milna Resort & Cottages, Jarib and Christian are an important part of that team. Both work as sous chefs, with Jarib leading lunch service and Christian taking over for dinner.

Jarib, originally from Mexico, is now in his fourth year at the resort, while Christian, also from Mexico, is spending his third season with us. Together, they bring experience, energy and an international perspective to a kitchen we are extremely proud of.

Different backgrounds, different shifts, one team - and one shared passion for creating great experiences for our guests.

BEHIND THE SCENES | Meet Chef Big Bad John 👨‍🍳

If you’ve read our guest reviews, chances are you’ve already come across his name.

Chef Big Bad John is one of those people who leave a mark far beyond the kitchen. After selling his restaurant in France in 2008, he thought he would never cook again. Luckily for us, the story took a different turn.

Today, at Gava Waterman Milna Resort & Cottages, he brings together years of experience, a passion for presentation and most importantly, a personal approach to every guest.

From leading a multicultural kitchen team and introducing changes while “the train is still moving”, to stepping out of the kitchen for show cooking and conversations with guests, John believes great hospitality always comes down to people.

As Big Bad John himself would say: “There has to be a personal touch in everything.”

One of the new concepts we introduced this season at Gava Waterman Milna Resort is our Chef’s Show Cooking, held twice a week. 👨‍🍳✨

[FACES OF WATERMAN] Meet Carlos! 😊

Originally from Colombia, Carlos is spending his first season at Gava Waterman Milna Resort, where he is part of our Technical Maintenance team and helps keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. 🔧

One of the things he appreciates most about his experience here is the people. Carlos has built a great relationship with his manager and colleagues and enjoys being part of a team where he feels welcomed and supported.

Outside of work, he likes walking, watching the sunset and spending time in nearby Milna. He also regularly goes to church and enjoys the peaceful rhythm of life on Brač. 🌅

Being far from home, there are naturally things he misses, especially his family and the food from Colombia. But for now, island walks, beautiful sunsets and new friendships are becoming part of his Croatian chapter. 💙

Meet Queen! 👑😊
Originally from the Philippines, Queen is part of the bar team at Gava Waterman Milna Resort, bringing with her bartending experience from both the Philippines and the UAE. 🍹

Her journey to Brač began thanks to her boyfriend, who was already working on the island and encouraged her to join him here. It didn’t take long for Queen to fall for island life, especially the beautiful Adriatic Sea. 💙

When she’s off duty, she likes keeping things simple: going to the beach, taking long walks and enjoying the surroundings.

But there’s also a creative side to Queen. She loves singing and making TikToks, so there’s always a good chance music is involved somewhere in her day. 🎶📱
