The cleanest sea in the world, according to most studies and measurements of water clarity, ecological preservation, and low pollution levels, is considered to be the sea around the Maldives (Indian Ocean) and the sea around Bora Bora and Tahiti (Polynesia, Pacific Ocean).
However, here are several global “champions” for sea purity:
🌊 1. Maldives (Indian Ocean) – crystal-clear water with visibility often exceeding 30 meters.
🌊 2. Bora Bora and Tahiti (French Polynesia) – almost perfectly transparent lagoon water, thanks to coral reefs that naturally filter impurities.
🌊 3. Sardinia (Italy) – especially around Cala Goloritzé and La Maddalena; among the cleanest seas in Europe.
🌊 4. Croatian Coast (Adriatic Sea) – according to the European Environment Agency, the Adriatic (particularly around islands like Šolta, Vis, and Kornati) is one of the highest-rated seas in Europe for water quality.
🌊 5. Greek Islands (Aegean and Ionian Seas) – high transparency and very low industrial pollution.
🌊 6. Fiji and Cook Islands (Pacific Ocean) – extremely pure and biologically rich waters.
