Hotel Miramar is more than what many people percive it to be. Behind that elegant seafront facade, the property actually spans 5 buildings and over 100 acomodation units.

It all began as Villa Meyne, designed by Austrian-Czech architect Adolf Tichy, later became Villa Neptune in 1908 under Baroness Horvath and the Migl family, taking on architectural details echoing Miramare Castle in Trieste, the very landmark that inspired the hotel’s name. 🏰

Let us tell you a little secret. 🤫

There is a path that starts right outside our door and disappears into pine, stone and the smell of the sea. 🌳

Queen Carmen Sylva walked here once, drawn by the quiet and the view she could find nowhere else.

Our guide Barbara still walks it the same way, slowly, stopping where the story asks her to stop.
She knows which bend gives you the best light, and which bench has been there since the queen’s time.

The sea shows up before you expect it. Then the trees part, and Opatija looks almost the way it did a hundred years ago.
